Game Notes »
(June 11, 2019 – York, Pa.):  The York Revolution made it back-to-back victories and three straight at home with another blowout win over the High Point Rockers, 13-3 in the opening game of Tuesday’s doubleheader at PeoplesBank Park.  The Rockers returned serve with an 8-1 victory in the nightcap.  The four-day, five-game series continues Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m.

In game one of the Tuesday twinbill, York starter Phil Walby toed the rubber to make his Revolution debut. Walby allowed a one-out walk to Myles Schroeder in the top of the first, but erased the threat with a unique twin killing. Tyler Marincov drilled a deep fly ball to left field, but Justin Trapp made the catch and threw back to first to double up Schroeder, who assumed the ball was gone and was all the way at third base.

Fresh off of a four-run outburst in the first inning one evening ago, the York bats came alive in the bottom of the first yet again. Trapp and Henry Castillo both slapped singles to set the table for Melky Mesa. High Point starter Seth Simmons then hit Mesa with a breaking ball to load the bases with no outs. Isaias Tejeda worked a bases loaded walk to plate Trapp and give the Revs an early 1-0 advantage.  Telvin Nash followed by grounding to third baseman Hector Gomez who fired the ball over the head of the catcher Schroeder, allowing both Castillo and Mesa to score and move the lead to 3-0.  The offense did not stop there, as J.P. Sportman lined an RBI single into left field, scoring Tejeda with the fourth run. After Simmons finally recorded the first two outs of the inning, Nate Coronado blooped an RBI single into center to score Sportman and extend the first inning lead to 5-0.

After Walby worked his second consecutive scoreless inning, Tejeda smacked an RBI double to right-center field in the bottom of the second, thrusting the lead to 6-0.

The Revs continued to play great defense behind Walby in the top of the third. Giovanny Alfonzo reached base on a two-out single to give High Point a threat. The next batter, Tyler Ladendorf, slapped a double down the left field line. Alfonzo ran through the stop sign and was caught in between third and home. Trapp made a great throw to shortstop Ryan Dent who cut and threw to Coronado at third.  Coronado relayed home to get Alfonzo at the plate as Trapp recorded his second outfield assist of the day on the play.

The Revs tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Tejeda drew a one-out walk to give the Revs their first base runner of the inning. Nash drew a walk of his own to put two runners aboard. Sportman kept the offense going by singling to load the bases. Tejeda recorded the first run of the inning when he scored on a Daniel Gibson wild pitch pushing the lead to 7-0.  The next batter, Welington Dotel smacked a two-run single up the middle, extending the blowout lead to 9-0.

The Rockers responded with three runs of their own in the top of the fifth off of York reliever Jeffrey Rosa with just one out. Lefty Rob Carson came into the game to end the fifth. With Schroeder on third, Viosergy Rosa lofted a ball into left field. Trapp made the squeeze and fired a strike at home to get a tagging Schroeder to end the frame, giving him a team-record third outfield assist of the game.

York added more insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth. The Revs used three consecutive singles from Trapp, Castillo, and Mesa to load the bases with no outs. Tejeda drew his second bases loaded walk of the game to push the lead to 10-3. Nash followed by driving a sacrifice fly to deep center field, scoring Castillo and upping the lead to 11-3.

After Pete Tago worked a scoreless top of the sixth inning, Coronado launched a two-run home run to left, his second of the year, to expand the lead to 13-3.

Josh Glick received the call to finish things up in the ninth and worked a scoreless frame to give the Revs the game one victory.
