Sutton’s Morning Show Moves to York’s Only Locally Owned Station

(January 9, 2025, York, Pa.) — York’s only local morning radio show is returning to the airwaves on York’s only locally owned station.

Legendary radio host Gary Sutton has delighted local audiences in York County every morning for decades and beginning on Tuesday, January 14, will bring his popular morning show to SportsRadio 98.9 FM & 1350 WOYK, every weekday from 6-9 a.m.

Sutton will bring the same approach to his new show that has made him a respected and popular fixture in Central Pennsylvania, featuring daily local and national news conversation while also adding the best in local sports on a daily basis.

“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Gary to WOYK,” said station General Manager Darrell Henry. “We have the words ‘first in York’ in our motto, and this is the icing on that cake.”

WOYK is York County’s only locally owned media property. The station is owned by York Professional Baseball Club, LLC, the same company that owns the York Revolution. Broadcasting York Revolution games, high school football and basketball, York College basketball, and Hershey Bears hockey, the station is true to its York roots and identity.

Not only has Sutton’s show been popular among local listeners, but it has also been award-winning, garnering several awards for Best Talk Show in Pennsylvania and placing among the top 101 talk shows in the country.

Sutton has been a fixture in the local community through many endeavors beyond just his impact on the air, a part of his career that began in 1988. The York County native has spent 27 years as a talk radio host on WSBA, hosting “The Gary Sutton Show” and “WSBA Morning News with Gary Sutton”. He previously spent 25 years as a school teacher in the Southern York County School District and has enjoyed 45 years as a basketball coach, leading Columbia High School to a boys state championship as head coach in 1987 and helping Central York to a state championship as assistant head coach last season.

A member of the York Sports Hall of Fame as a 2003 inductee, Sutton has called over 250 state championship games and over 1000 total games on radio and TV including 36 years with The Pennsylvania Cable Network. He has commentated more state basketball and volleyball championships on television than anyone in the history of Pennsylvania.

Sutton has also been inducted into the Susquehanna Valley Chapter of the Pennsylvania Hall of Fame and the Columbia Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame.

“The Gary Sutton Show” on WOYK debuts live on Tuesday, January 14 at 6 a.m.  Shows will also be made available every day as podcasts on 989woyk.com and The New WOYK app for on-demand listening.
