(October 26, 2016) – The York Revolution will kick off their 2017 season on Friday, April 21, on the road against the New Britain Bees and host their home opener on Friday, April 28, when they welcome the Somerset Patriots to PeoplesBank Park, the team announced today.
The Revolution’s 11th season will feature 70 home games, including a doubleheader on May 3 against the Long Island Ducks and a season-longest 10-game homestand May 22 to June 1 featuring the New Britain Bees, Sugar Land Skeeters, and Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.
The 2017 season will also mark the 20th anniversary of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (ALPB), which will officially start its 140-game season on April 20 when the 2016 ALPB champion Sugar Land Skeeters host the Bridgeport Bluefish and the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs welcome the Long Island Ducks.
The Revolution will begin the 2017 season on the road for the second consecutive season and sixth time overall. The opening homestand will last seven games – three against the Patriots and four against the Ducks.
The 2017 "War of The Roses" series against the Lancaster Barnstormers will begin June 2 with four games at Clipper Magazine Stadium; York will first host Lancaster June 9 for three games. The remainder of the series is June 23-25 (home), July 7-9 (Lancaster), August 25-27 (home), and September 15-17 (home).
The Revolution will also make two to trips to Sugar Land, TX, to visit the Skeeters, May 19-21 and August 15-20. The Skeeters visit York May 26-28, June 30-July 2, and July 20-23.
The 20th Annual Atlantic League All-Star Game will be hosted by the Somerset Patriots on Wednesday, July 12, at TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater, N.J.
The ALPB schedule is divided into two 70-game halves, with the first half ending on Sunday, July 2, and the regular season ending on Sunday, September 17. The first-half and second-half champions in each division will qualify for 2017 Atlantic League playoffs. Should a team(s) win both halves in its respective division, a wild card scenario comes into play where the team(s) with the next best overall record, regardless of division, qualifies for the postseason. The Division Championship Series matchups will take place the week of September 18, 2017, and the Atlantic League Championship Series will take place during the week of September 25.
