Reliever returns to MLB organization after one outing in York
(August 9, 2026 – York, Pa.):
The contract of York Revolution left hander Tanner Bauman has been purchased by the Atlanta Braves, it was announced over the weekend. Bauman becomes the franchise record eighth member of this year’s roster to have his contract purchased by a Major League organization this season.
Bauman signed with the Revs last Wednesday and made one appearance the following night. He allowed one unearned run without a hit and struck out one batter in his inning against Long Island.
“We’re obviously happy for him,” commented Revs manager Rick Forney. “I’m happy with the fact that he was hungry and wanted to keep playing. He was anxious to get here and pitch in games and compete. Not many get signed at this time of year but it was a pleasant call to receive.”
Bauman spent most of this season with High-A Hudson Valley in the New York Yankees organization while also making his Double-A debut with Somerset. A ninth round draft pick of the Yankees out of Auburn University in 2024, the Jacksonville, FL native was 3-0 with two saves and a 4.23 ERA in 25 games this season. Over two seasons in the Yankees farm system, the 6’5 southpaw was 7-7 with a 6.75 ERA in 50 games (seven starts).
The 24-year-old joins Braden Scott as Revs left handers to have their contracts purchased by Atlanta this season. Scott went from York to Double-A Columbus when his contract was transferred to the Braves on July 9.
The Atlantic League has transferred more than 60 player contracts this season, second-most in league history. The Revs’ eight player transfers put them in the league’s top three this season.
“It’s good for Tanner and good for our league,” added Forney. “We’re here for a purpose to help players advance. You see a lot of guys that get released from big league clubs and want to wait for something to open up. Well, another contract just got purchased out of our league while other guys were waiting at home trying to sign with big league teams as free agents. Our league is held in high value with a lot of Major League organizations.”
Bauman joins LHP Jordan Morales (Chicago White Sox), RHP Jack Nedrow (Toronto Blue Jays), RHP Nick Mikolajchak (Minnesota Twins), RHP Hunter Gregory (Twins), RHP Chris Vallimont (Twins), 3B/1B Brandon Lewis (Philadelphia Phillies), and LHP Braden Scott (Braves) as members of the 2026 Revs to go from York to big league clubs this season.
