(August 5, 2026 – York, Pa.): Julian Costa took a three-hit shutout into the seventh as the York Revolution knocked off the Long Island Ducks for the second straight night, 8-2 on Wednesday evening at WellSpan Park. The Revs improve to a league record 23-5 to begin the second half, increasing their first place lead to a season-high 5.5 games.
Costa was in command from the get-go, recording the game’s first two outs on two pitches before working past a pair of two-out singles in a scoreless first.
Jacob Teter opened the scoring with an RBI single to center in the bottom of the first, and with the bases loaded and two outs, Drew Ramirez came through with a two-run single up the middle to open a 3-0 lead.
Costa was perfect in the second and third innings before stranding two in the fourth, retiring Rene Pinto on a fly out to the track in left.
Mike Rosario cracked a solo homer to right in the bottom of the fourth, increasing the lead to 4-0.
With Costa in control after another 1-2-3 inning in the fifth, Shed Long Jr. went yard for the second straight night, launching a two-run homer to right in the home half of the inning to make it a 6-0 lead, chasing Ducks starter Ryan Cardona (3-2).
Costa (6-2) had retired nine of 10 and had allowed just one hit since the first inning, carrying a three-hit shutout with two outs in the seventh when Terrell Tatum drew a walk and Kole Kaler singled to right, prompting a call to the bullpen. Alsander Womack broke up the shutout with an RBI single up the middle, but reliever Shane Gray retired Wilmer Difo on a ground out to short, stranding two with York ahead 6-1.
Henry Kusiak led off the eighth with a homer to left center but right hander Brendan Collins set down the next three including Marcus Chiu who was retired on a highlight reel diving grab by Jackson Ross in left.
Nick Dunn (4-for-4) hammered an opposite field two-run homer to left center in the bottom of the eighth, taking the team lead with his 20th while providing the final 8-2 margin.
Josh Mollerus fired a scoreless ninth to close it out.
Notes: Teter’s 91 RBI place him ninth in a season in franchise history, just 16 away from a club record. Costa has quality starts in seven of nine career outings; every out was put in play as he did not record a strikeout in the game. The Revs have outscored the Ducks 8-0 in the first inning over the first two games of the series. York used a trio of homers for the second straight night. Tomo Otosaka stole second base in the eighth, becoming the third in Revs history to 80 career steals. Dunn’s four-hit game is his third of the year, all since July 1; he reached all five times and now has a 40-game on-base streak, fourth longest in franchise history. The Revs have won 15 of 17 and 20 of 23, tied for the best 23-game stretch in league history (Sugar Land / Somerset 2013, Gastonia 2024). They are 26-5 since June 30. York has also won 17 of 20 at home, improving to 35-14 at WellSpan Park. York signed LHP Tanner Bauman prior to the game; the 24-year-old was a ninth round pick of the New York Yankees out of Auburn University in 2024 and pitched at High-A Hudson Valley and Double-A Somerset this year.
Next: The Revs go for a sweep as they wrap up the nine-game homestand on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. RHP Nick Mikolajchak (3-1, 2.80) returns to the mound against righty Michael Dominguez (5-2, 4.87). It is WellSpan Team Member Night and a Hunger Free Thursday presented by Members 1st Federal Credit Union.
