BOX SCORE

The York Revolution battled throughout the night, stranding eleven Lancaster Barnstormers runners and inducing a franchise record-tying five double plays. Trailing 3-2 in the top of the ninth, however, K.C. Hobson put the game away, blasting his second grand slam in the last three days just inside the right field foul pole to put the exclamation mark on a 7-2 Lancaster victory.

Logan Williamson gave up three runs in the top of the first on an RBI double by Sean Halton, an RBI groundout from Hobson, and a two-out RBI single by Trayvon Robinson. Then after allowing the first two men to reach in the second inning, Williamson settled in as he retired Rico Noel on a double play followed by another groundout to end the threat, as the lefty ended up lasting into the fifth.

The bullpen then followed suit, as the Revs ended up using Michael Click, Manny Corpas, Hawtin Buchanan and Luke Westphal to carry the team through to the ninth. While each pitcher allowed at least one baserunner to reach, none allowed a run to cross, and thanks to a Michael Burgess solo home run to lead off the bottom of the second inning, the deficit remained just 3-1 for much of the night.

The Revs would then cut it to a one run game in the eighth. Alonzo Harris worked a two-out walk, moved to second on a wild pitch, and then came around to score on an Isaias Tejeda single through the left side, as Harris just beat the tag at the plate on a headfirst dive. Tejeda totaled three of the Revs’ four hits, and posted a three-hit game for the second straight night.

Down 3-2, the Revs then sent Ricardo Gomez to the hill in the ninth, but the Revs’ all-time ERA leader encountered his first rough outing of the season, allowing the first three to reach on two walks and a single, setting up Hobson for the bases clearing shot. York then went down in order in the bottom half of the ninth, as the Revs dropped the second game of the series, 7-2.

The rubber game is set for Sunday at 1 p.m. when the Revs send Steve Janas (1-3, 4.59) to the hill to face off with former Revs lefty Rommie Lewis (2-5, 6.48). Tickets can be purchased at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office, online at yorkrevolution.com, or by calling 717-801-HITS. Sunday is Cancer Survivor Day presented by Visiting Angels.
