League’s top slugger has contract purchased by Phillies
(June 18, 2026 – York, Pa.): The contract of York Revolution corner infielder Brandon Lewis has been purchased by the Philadelphia Phillies, it was announced on Wednesday afternoon. Lewis becomes the record-tying sixth member of this year’s squad to have his contract purchased by a Major League organization.
Lewis enjoyed a record pace during his second season in York. He led the league in home runs (19), RBI (59), slugging (.776), runs (47), total bases (132), and extra-base hits (33) while ranking second in OPS (1.186), third in batting (.347), and T-4th in total hits (59). He hit .367 with 17 homers and 50 RBI in his last 33 games beginning with a three-homer performance on May 5 at High Point. He also batted .384 with hits in 23 of his final 26 games from May 14 on.
The 27-year-old posted four multi-homer performances, most in the league and one shy of a Revs season record. He launched a pair of homers twice in his final four games including two three-run jacks in Sunday’s win at Lancaster as his six RBI marked a Revs career best and his third game of five-or-more RBI in the past seven. He totaled 27 RBI over his last 12 games, two shy of the league’s most in a 12-game span since 2010. He was also tied for second fastest in league history to 50 RBI since 2010 reaching the mark in just 41 games and became just the fifth to hit .333 or better with at least 15 homers in his first 40 games of a season.
Additionally, Lewis’ 12 homers in May set a club record for the month and came within one of a record for any month. He was four homers and 16 RBI shy of Revs single half records and finished one RBI short of becoming the league’s fastest ever to 60 RBI.
“It’s great news for him,” reflected Revs manager Rick Forney. “He was on pace for a historic season. He worked hard in the offseason and got himself in better shape. That was obvious when he arrived in camp. He had an unbelievable start and is very deserving of this second chance with a big league organization.”
A seventh-year pro, Lewis totaled 34 home runs, 30 doubles, and 128 RBI in 149 games over parts of two seasons in a Revs uniform. The Granada Hills, CA native was originally a fourth-round draft pick of the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2019 out of UC Irvine and spent five years in the Dodgers farm system including three consecutive years at Double-A Tulsa from 2022-24. He was a Pioneer League All-Star during his first pro season and launched a career-high 30 homers in his second season. He has hit 117 home runs in his pro career as he notched his milestone 100th career long ball on May 1 vs Gastonia.
The Revs also had six player contracts purchased by MLB clubs in 2007, 2011, 2021, and 2024. They have now had 62 player contracts purchased in-season by MLB clubs all-time, in addition to off-season signings and foreign contract purchases.
