(May 31, 2024 – Central Islip, NY):  Ethan Lindow tossed seven strong innings and the offense erupted late as the York Revolution smacked the Long Island Ducks with an 11-2 victory on Friday night at Fairfield Properties Ballpark. The win is the fifth consecutive victory for the first place Revs who maintain their three-game lead in the North Division.

York struggled to get going offensively until the late innings, but Lindow settled into a great rhythm and kept the game tied into the seventh when the offense took off.

Alfredo Reyes singled to set up the decisive seventh frame and moved up on a sac bunt by Paul Mondesi. Ducks reliever Justin Alintoff got a big strikeout for the second out of the inning, but Kobe Kato worked a clutch walk and Donovan Casey sliced a tiebreaking three-run homer down the right field line and inside the foul pole, putting York on top, 5-2.

The Revs blew it open in the eighth as Mondesi lined a sac fly to center, Casey drilled a two-run double over the head of right fielder Scott Kelly, and Colton Welker produced an RBI ground out to make it a 9-2 lead.

Two more scored in the ninth as Trey Martin came home on a wild pitch and Matt McDermott provided an RBI ground out, giving the Revs 10 unanswered runs including nine over the final three frames.

Lindow (2-3) was excellent, rebounding from a tough three-start stretch. After being nicked for six singles in the first two innings, the southpaw allowed just two more hits the rest of the night, retiring six straight, nine of ten, and 13 of 15 at one point.  He allowed just two runs (one earned) on two walks and two strikeouts in his longest outing in a year and a day (May 30, 2023 with Double-A Arkansas).

The Ducks plated the first run of the game, using three two-out singles in the bottom of the first with an error on the last knock bringing home Frank Schwindel.

York answered in the second as Welker and David Washington reached on walks before an error loaded the bases with no outs. Jacob Rhinesmith ripped a line drive to center for a sac fly, tying the game at 1-1.

Long Island went ahead again in the bottom of the second, scoring a run on a double play grounder.

York was held without a hit until the fourth when Reyes slashed an RBI single to right, plating Welker who had set the table with another leadoff walk as the game was tied 2-2.

Alex Valverde closed it out with two scoreless innings, rolling the Revs’ third infield double play of the night in the eighth and stranding two runners in the ninth.

Notes: York has won 11 of its last 15. The five-game winning streak is the Revs’ longest since a seven-gamer, August 30-September 4, 2023. The Revs’ 21-12 record is one behind Gastonia for the league’s best mark and is the best 33-game start in franchise history. York improves to a league-best 12-4 on the road. The Revs move past Charleston for the league lead in runs scored as a team with 206. It is the sixth time in the last 12 games the Revs have scored in double figures. Casey’s five RBI night tied a season-best by a Revs batter (McDermott, Reyes) and was his most since a six-RBI game with Rancho Cucamonga on July 6, 2019. Casey’s home run is his third of the season, all coming in his past seven games. Welker reached base in each of his first four plate appearances, making it 16 of 19 times reaching safely to that point; with three walks, he has now drawn 12 walks in his last six games. With two sac flies, the Revs are tied for the league lead with 15 sac flies as a team. Valverde has allowed just one run in his last eight innings of work.

Up Next: York will go for a sixth straight win on Saturday night at 6:35 PM when lefty Aaron Fletcher (3-1, 2.50) squares off with Stephen Woods Jr (1-2, 6.49).
