BOX SCORE
The York Revolution got a solid start from Curtis Partch complimented by two big home runs, winning their third straight by defeating Southern Maryland 3-2 on Tuesday evening at PeoplesBank Park.
The Blue Crabs scored first on a single up the middle by Edwin Rodriguez to plate Kalaika Kahoohalahala, who led off the third inning with a double down the line in left. Partch would allow just one earned run over his first six innings, striking out five in the process.
Joel Guzman blasted his fourth home run of the season to lead off the fifth, a solo shot over the Arch Nemesis in left to tie the score at 1-1. The following inning, Michael Burgess launched a two run shot onto the home run patio in right, his sixth of the year, scoring Angel Franco who singled two batters prior for a 3-1 lead.
Aside from two home runs, Blue Crabs starter Daryl Thompson had a good night on the hill, striking out seven in seven innings of work without a walk. He suffered his third loss of the season in his 300th career start.
Partch went back out for the seventh and gave up a leadoff double to Zack Cone which would end his night. However the righty did pick up his first victory as a Rev in his longest outing of the season. The run would come in to score as an inherited run on a groundout, as Brad Allen retired the next three hitters in the seventh.
Chase Huchingson and Jarret Martin teamed up for a scoreless eighth and ninth, respectively, with Martin earning his fourth save of the season and third consecutively. The duo have each not allowed a run in their last 13 appearances.
