(September 2, 2026 – York, Pa.): Drew Ramirez’ go-ahead grand slam in the sixth highlighted an offensive onslaught for the York Revolution who outslugged the Long Island Ducks, 16-10 on Wednesday night at WellSpan Park, squaring their big six-game series at one win apiece. The Revs (72-44, 37-16) increase their first place lead back up to two games over the Ducks (72-44, 35-18) with 10 games to play in the regular season.
The Revs built a 6-1 lead over the first three innings, scoring a pair of runs in each of the first three frames.
Jackson Ross plated the game’s first run, legging out a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the first to keep the inning alive. Shed Long Jr. made it 2-0, ripping the next pitch into right for an RBI single.
York loaded the bases in the second as Nick Dunn and Brian Rey worked two-out walks, and Jacob Teter cashed in with a two-run single to right center.
It was the long ball with two outs in the third as the eighth and ninth hitters in the order, Oscar Hernandez and Devonte Brown, slugged consecutive pitches out to left center for back-to-back homers.
Long Island had just one of its first 11 batters reach against Revs starter Nick Mikolajchak who was sharp early, allowing only a Jorge Bonifacio solo homer to left in the top of the second.
Mikolajchak was dominating through three after striking out the side, but Bonifacio skied a two-run homer to left with two outs in the fourth as his second of the game began Long Island’s comeback, drawing within 6-3.
Rene Pinto made it a one-run game with a two-run homer to left in the top of the fifth, but the Revs maintained the lead as Brendan Collins struck out Bonifacio to leave the bases loaded after three two-out walks, the first two of which ended Mikolajchak’s evening.
Long Island came all the way back in the sixth, loading the bases with one out on a pair of walks and a bloop hit against Collins. Jacob Robson beat out an attempted double play to plate the tying run, and Henry Kusiak followed with an infield single in the hole at short to put the Ducks ahead, 7-6.
The Revs answered right back with a dramatic blast from their rookie shortstop. After loading the bases on singles by Rey and Long Jr. which surrounded a walk to Teter, Ramirez worked reliever Garrett Crowley (1-2) into a full count and turned a fastball around for a grand slam to left field, the first of his pro career, powering the Revs ahead, 10-7.
Josh Mollerus handled a scoreless top of the seventh with the lead, and York added an unearned run in the seventh as Tomo Otosaka doubled and scored on an error to make it 11-7.
Tyler Thornton notched a pair of strikeouts in the eighth but ran into two-out trouble as Kusiak cracked a first pitch two-run homer to left center, knifing the margin to 11-9 and ending Thornton’s eight-outing scoreless streak. The flame throwing righty overcame a pair of walks, retiring Bonifacio on a pop up to keep the lead intact.
The Revs put it away with a five-run eighth. Long Jr. (4-for-6) notched his second four-hit game of the year with a leadoff double to right. Following Ramirez’ sac bunt, Hernandez provided a sac fly to center as the lead reached 12-9. The Revs were far from finished as Brown (2-for-3) and Otosaka (3-for-6) ignited the two-out rally with back-to-back singles, and Dunn (2-for-5) walloped a double to right, breaking a tie with Rey for the league lead with his 35th double and plating both runners as his RBI total reached 111. Rey (3-for-5) increased the Revs’ single-season RBI record to 116 with a single to right plating Dunn. Teter (2-for-4) tucked a single through the hole on the right side to keep the line moving, and Ross picked up his second RBI of the night and 88th of the year on a base hit to right as every starter recorded a hit.
Marcus Chiu homered to left center on the first pitch of the ninth as the Ducks’ five homers marked the most against York this season, but Cam Robinson otherwise bounced back from the previous night’s loss, recording the final three outs of the wild win.
Ryan Shreve (4-1) picked up the victory in relief for the Revs after recording the final two outs in the sixth.
Notes: York halts Long Island’s six-game winning streak and the Ducks’ five-game head-to-head winning streak vs the Revs. The grand slam by Ramirez is the Revs’ ninth of the season, one shy of a club record set in 2024. Otosaka scored twice, moving into sole possession of second on the Revs’ single-season runs list with 114. Rey’s league-leading hit total increases to 167, third most in Revs history and now just two shy of Isaias Tejeda (2019) for second all-time and five behind James Shanks (2010) for the franchise record. Teter now has 109 RBI as he is the third Revs hitter in the current lineup to have broken the previous RBI record of 107 (Chris Nowak) which had stood since 2012. Teter extends his club record for RBI at home in a season to 81 in just 58 games. The Revs ripped 20 hits, reaching the 20-hit mark for the sixth time this year. Their 16 runs give them 881 runs on the season, three shy of the Atlantic League’s all-time record of 884 runs set by Lexington in 2021.
