(August 17, 2018) – The York Revolution and Somerset Patriots were tied, 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning on Friday night at TD Bank Ballpark when rain and thunderstorms forced a lengthy delay, ultimately resulting in a suspended game which will be resumed when the Revs next visit the Patriots on Friday, September 7.

The story early on was Revs starter Logan Williamson who allowed just one run over the first two innings despite facing a bases loaded, no-out situation in both frames.

Ramon Flores lined a sac fly to center to open the scoring for Somerset in the bottom of the first, but that was the extent of the damage.

Williamson took advantage of a baserunning mistake by Matt Oberste in the bottom of the second. After hesitating on his decision to attempt to score on Justin Pacchioli's line out to right, Oberste found himself caught in a rundown between third and home, turning a potential sac fly into a double play as Williamson ultimately left the bases loaded.

It stayed 1-0 Patriots until the fourth when Melky Mesa jumped on a breaking ball from Patriots starter Kyle Davies, launching a solo homer to left-center, tying the game at 1-1 on his 15th of the year.

The Revs plated a pair of unearned runs in the sixth as Alonzo Harris came home on a throwing error by shortstop Alfredo Rodriguez on a hard ground shot off the bat of Jared Mitchell. Welington Dotel further took advantage, drilling an RBI double off the base of the fence in right for a 3-1 lead.

Oberste atoned for his baserunning miscue earlier in the game, connecting on a two-run homer to left-center, tying the game at 3-3 shortly before rain stopped play, denying the Revs of a potential rain-shortened victory.

The game was called with two outs in the sixth and a 1-2 count on Pacchioli. Scott Kelly is a two-out base runner at first base for the Patriots after reaching on a two-out walk and escaping a potential caught stealing on a pickoff to first by Williamson.

The suspended game is the fifth in Revs history and second this season. It is just the second time that the game is not resumed during the same series.

York righty Carl Brice faces Patriots right-hander Nate Roe in Saturday's contest at 7:05 p.m. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, woyk1350.com, The New WOYK app, and WOYK 1350 on YouTube beginning at 6:45 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.

Notes: Mesa leads the team with 15 home runs and is tied for fourth in the league in that department. He notched his 17th RBI in his last 13 games.
