(August 2, 2026 – York, Pa.): The York Revolution stormed back from seven-run and three-run deficits, forcing extra innings in the final game of their series with the Lexington Legends on Sunday afternoon at WellSpan Park. Following the third rain delay of the day, the game was suspended in the top of the 10th inning with the score tied 12-12. A resumption date has not yet been announced.
The Revs head into Monday’s off day with their league best record still 56-33, and the best start to a second half in league history still at 21-5 as they lead Long Island by 3.5 games for first place. They will welcome the Ducks to WellSpan Park for a three-game series beginning Tuesday night.
York is attempting to pull off its biggest comeback victory since 2021, as all statistics will be counted at a later date once the game is resumed and completed.
The game began after a 50-minute delay at the outset, and for the second time this series, the Legends jumped to a 7-0 lead in the first two innings against Revs starter Rhett Kouba who prior to this series had combined to allow just seven runs in 33.0 innings over his previous five starts.
The Legends loaded the bases on three singles in the second and Kouba nearly pulled off the escape, striking out the next two batters. A two-out wild pitch brought home the first run, however, and three consecutive two-run extra-base hits made it a huge inning as Xane Washington’s double, Dylan Rock’s triple, and Curtis Terry’s seventh homer against York this season made it a seven-run frame, the biggest allowed by the Revs since June 17.
York got on the board in the bottom of the second as Austin Bates singled with two outs and stole second, setting up Nick Dunn for an RBI single ripped to left.
Kouba rebounded to work a 1-2-3 third, and the Revs stormed back as Jackson Ross hammered a long homer down the left field line to lead off the bottom of the third. After a trio of walks from Legends starter Jack Lynch, Bates launched a grand slam to left center, as the Revs surged right back within a run at 7-6. A second delay of 47 minutes interrupted play shortly thereafter.
Lexington added to its lead with an RBI single from Terry in the fourth and a solo homer to left by Damiano Palmegiani in the fifth, making it a 9-6 game.
Mike Rosario parked a solo homer to right in the bottom of the fifth, and the Revs drew even on RBI singles by Brian Rey and Shed Long Jr. in the sixth, completing the seven-run comeback as the game was tied at 9-9.
Lexington went right back ahead by three, scoring on a wild pitch and a two-run single to right by Jackson Feltner in the seventh, leading 12-9.
Denny Bentley entered to escape further trouble in the seventh with a double play before rolling three groundouts in the eighth, and Juan Sanchez handled a scoreless ninth allowing the Revs one last bid to come from behind again.
York had inched closer as Ross walked with the bases loaded in the seventh, and Tomo Otosaka made it a one-run game at 12-11 with a pinch hit RBI groundout in the bottom of the eighth against closer Carson Lambert.
Attempting to record a six-out save, Lambert quickly retired the first two in the ninth, but the Revs rallied as Ross was hit by a pitch and Long Jr. smacked a single to right center. With runners at the corners, Drew Ramirez floated a game-tying RBI single to shallow center, polishing a second comeback as the Revs tied the game at 12-12 to force extras.
The game was called with the bases loaded and one out in the top of the tenth. Attempting to play through rain which resulted in a heavily saturated field, by the time the umpires halted play, the field crew was unable to pull the tarp across the muddying dirt in the middle of an intensifying downpour and the infield was soon covered in standing water, rendering it unplayable.
It is the 12th suspended game in Revs history and first since May 30, 2025 vs Long Island.
Notes: Dunn now has a 38-game on-base streak, the league’s fifth longest this season and the Revs’ third longest (fifth longest in franchise history). Bates’ grand slam is the Revs’ seventh of the year and first since July 1 (Jacob Teter). Bates is 5-for-6 with two homers and nine RBI off Lynch this season including a three-run homer earlier in the series, and is 11-for-28 (.393) with three homers and 13 RBI in nine games played vs Lexington, his former team. Bentley has allowed just one run in 7.2 innings over his last six outings. When the game is resumed, the Revs will be gunning for their third walk-off win of the year and first since June 3 vs Charleston. They are seeking their largest comeback victory since a franchise record 12-run comeback in a 17-16 victory vs Gastonia on October 3, 2021.
