(June 6, 2018) – The York Revolution wrapped up their six-game road trip with back-to-back wins, taking the rubber match of their series from the New Britain Bees, 5-3 on Wednesday night at New Britain Stadium. The Revs (18-15) finish 3-3 on the road trip, winning the final two with late-inning rallies.

The Revs jumped on top early in Wednesday's finale. Jared Mitchell extended his hitting streak to 12 consecutive games with a single to center on the game's first pitch, and scored when Michael Burgess clobbered a two-run homer to deep right with two outs in the first for a 2-0 lead.

Mitchell set the table again in the third with an infield single, took second on a ground out, and scored all the way from second on an infield hit by Burgess whose third RBI of the night made it 3-0.

Revs starter Joe Van Meter was sharp early in his second starting assignment, striking out the side in the first and retiring seven of his first nine.

The Bees got on the board in the third when Darren Ford doubled with two outs and came across on a bloop single by Reid Brignac.

Jonathan Galvez led off the home fifth with a double off the base of the right-center fence and scored on a James Skelton infield single, cutting the York lead to 3-2. New Britain drew even an inning later when Jamar Walton doubled down the first base line with two outs, setting up Josh Thole who tied the game at 3-3 with a double to right-center.

The Revs answered back immediately in the seventh as Mitchell singled with two outs, and scored all the way from first on an RBI double down the right field line by Alexi Casilla for a 4-3 lead.

York added insurance an inning later when Jose Cuevas smashed an RBI double off the left field wall, plating Burgess who worked a walk to lead off the frame.

Luke Westphal (1-1) earned the win out of the Revs bullpen, stranding the go-ahead run at second base in the sixth and retiring all four batters faced including a 1-2-3 seventh inning.

Junior Rincon retired the first two batters of the eighth before allowing a two-out single to Jason Rogers. Grant Sides entered to strike out Walton, before logging a scoreless ninth for his second save.

Bees starter Kyle Simon (3-3) took the loss, charged with four runs on 10 hits over seven innings.

Notes: Burgess' homer was his sixth of the year, matching Ryan Dent for the team lead and third-most in the league; it was also his third game of three RBI or more this season. Mitchell's 3-for-4 performance was his fourth game with three or more hits; his three runs scored matched his own performance on May 29 for a Revs' season-best. Mitchell now holds the league's longest active hitting streak at 12 consecutive games, as teammate Welington Dotel's 17-gamer, the longest overall in the league this season, was snapped. The Revs return home on Thursday at 6:30 p.m., hosting the Long Island Ducks in the first of a four-game series at PeoplesBank Park. York righty Mitch Atkins faces Long Island lefty Andrew Barbosa in the opener. It is Swim Night presented by York County YMCA. Tickets are on sale at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Revs Ticket Office.
