(August 26, 2018) — The York Revolution scored 10 runs through the first four innings and held on for a 10-8 win to sweep the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs on Sunday afternoon in front of 4,037 fans at PeoplesBank Park. It was the Revs’ fifth win on their seven-game homestand. They move to 55-52 on the season and 23-21 in the second half.

The Revs jumped on Blue Crabs starter David Wayne Russo for three runs in the first and sent eight men to the plate in the inning. Alonzo Harris led off with a single and scored from first on a throwing error from Crabs catcher Jose Gonzalez, who attempted a snap throw to first that ended up in the right field corner.

Melky Mesa smoked an RBI double off the right-center field wall and Jared Mitchell added a sac fly to right to give the Revs a 3-0 lead.

The Blue Crabs answered with two runs in the top of the second off Revs starter Troy Terzi to make it a 3-2 game. Angelys Nina hit an RBI triple and scored on Cory Vaughn’s RBI groundout.

In the third, the Revs struck for four runs to extend their lead to 7-2. The first run came home when Travis Witherspoon stole second base and Mitchell broke from third to score on the double steal. Henry Castillo plated a run with an RBI single off the Arch Nemesis and Tyler Clark capped off the inning with a long two-run home run over the big wall, his sixth of the season.

The Revs poured it on with three more runs in the fourth off Crabs reliever Tommy Shirley. Casilla led off the inning with a double to left and Mesa followed with a two-run homer to left-center, his 17th of the season. Two batters later, Ryan Dent connected for his 12th homer of the year on a solo shot over the Arch Nemesis in left to make it a 10-2 Revs lead.

Southern Maryland didn’t quit and put up a three-spot on Terzi with two outs in the sixth. Frank Martinez hit a two-RBI triple to the right-center gap and later scored on an error to cut the Revs’ lead to 10-5.

Estarlin Arias threw a scoreless seventh inning and Ricardo Gomez tossed a scoreless eighth inning in relief of Terzi. Dustin Richardson came on for the ninth and allowed three runs, but finished off the 10-8 win.

Terzi (1-0) allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits in six innings on the day. He had four strikeouts, no walks, and earned the first win of his professional career.

Russo (2-5) suffered the loss for the Crabs. He lasted just three innings after giving up seven runs on eight hits.
