(August 1, 2019 – Bridgewater, NJ):  The York Revolution pounded 19 hits including four home runs and obliterated the Somerset Patriots, 13-1 on Thursday night in front of 6,319 fans at TD Bank Ballpark, completing a four-game series sweep.  The Revs improve to 15-5 in the second half remaining one game ahead in first place and will continue their road trip to New Britain on Friday night.

The offensive explosion was coupled with a masterful debut by Revs starter Ricky Schafer as the righty tossed six scoreless innings to earn the win, allowing just four hits and one walk while striking out five.

York opened the scoring in the second as Ryan Dent drove in the game’s first run on an infield single.  Zach Sullivan provided the Revs with a sizable cushion early in the game, launching a three-run homer to left-center with two outs in the frame to make it 4-0.

York rallied for another four-spot, all with two outs an inning later.  Isaias Tejeda and Carlos Franco set the table with singles to keep the third inning alive and Melky Mesa lashed an RBI single to right.  Dent followed by blasting a three-run homer of his own on a drive to deep center field, ballooning the lead to 8-0.

The lead swelled to 11-0 with three more runs in the fifth.  Telvin Nash drilled a homer to left-center on the first pitch of the frame, the 80th of his Revs career and 199th of his pro career.  It was also his league-leading 27th this season, moving within seven of matching Chris Nowak’s single-season club record set in 2012.  Tejeda followed by hammering a towering homer down the left field line for his 13th of the year, all since July 3.  It marked the third time that the duo has gone back-to-back this season.  Dent added a sac fly to deep right for his fifth RBI of the game.

Schafer retired nine of his first 10 batters faced including eight in-a-row to end the third, recording all five of his strike outs through the first three innings.  He worked around a leadoff double by Justin Pacchioli in the fourth and erased a leadoff infield single by Edwin Espinal on a double play in the fifth.  Schafer stranded two runners in the sixth, retiring Will Kengor on a line out to center to end his outing.

Orleny Quiroz steered around four singles for a scoreless seventh out of the York bullpen.  Rey Navarro’s leadoff single was erased on a double play off the bat of Espinal.  Three more singles loaded the bases, but Quiroz retired Craig Massey on a fly out to left to maintain the shutout bid.

York added two more in the eighth on a Nash RBI single to left and Tejeda’s third sac fly in as many games as the lead grew to 13-0.

Pacchioli led off the home eighth with a double to right, his third of the game.  After advancing on an Alfredo Rodriguez ground out, Pacchioli scored on Kengor’s grounder to second to break up the shutout, but Revs reliever Rob Carson allowed nothing further, handling the final two innings to close out the blowout win.

Notes: The four-game road sweep is the second in franchise history, with the other occurring June 14-16 in Lancaster.  It is the Revs’ first ever sweep of three games or more at Somerset.  York’s 15-5 record is the best start to any half in franchise history.  The Revs have won five straight overall, outscoring opponents 47-8 on that streak.  York has won nine straight on the road extending a franchise record; it matches the longest road streak in the league as far back as at least 2010, the earliest at which those records are available.  The Revs have won six straight against the Patriots, a new franchise record; all six have come at TD Bank Ballpark.  Dent drove in at least five runs for the fourth time in his Revs career.  York righty Joe Jones makes his Atlantic League debut in Friday’s opener at New Britain against Bees lefty David Roseboom (0-0, 3.12) at 6:35 p.m.  Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 98.9 FM & 1350 WOYK, 989woyk.com, The New WOYK app, and WOYK on YouTube beginning at 6:15 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
