(September 12, 2026 – Staten Island, NY): The York Revolution took care of their business with a pair of wins in a doubleheader sweep of the Staten Island FerryHawks, winning 5-4 and 11-7 on Saturday afternoon at SIUH Community Park. The Revs head into Sunday’s regular season finale tied for first place, needing to win and have Long Island lose to clinch a postseason berth.
The Revs jumped ahead in the opener as Jackson Ross led off the second with a double to right center and went to third on Shed Long Jr.’s single to left. Ross scored from there on a wild pitch by FerryHawks starter Charlie Adamson (2-11) for the game’s first run.
York used three consecutive two-out doubles to extend the lead in the third. Brian Rey nailed one to right center to keep the inning alive and scored on Jacob Teter’s double to deep center. Ross followed with his second of the day coming on a bloop along the right field line to plate Teter for a 3-0 lead.
Staten Island rallied for four runs in the bottom of the third. After not getting a close 3-2 pitch to Kennys Vargas that loaded the bases with one out, Revs starter Zach Mort was victimized by a two-run bloop single to left center off the bat of Alfredo Gonzalez. With two outs, Gary Mattis added a two-run double to left as the FerryHawks went ahead, 4-3.
York answered right back with two in the fourth as reliever Richie Cimpric entered with the bases loaded and hit Nick Dunn with a pitch to force in the tying run. Rey followed with a swinging bunt to drive in the go-ahead run as York led 5-4.
Mort (3-1) faced the minimum over his final three innings, going six frames in the win while allowing only the four runs in the third. He walked one and struck out a Revs career-best 10 batters.
Tyler Thornton entered for the save and faced trouble on a bunt hit by Matt Hogan and a flare to left by Luis Garcia that put runners at second and third with no outs. Thornton struck out the next two batters before walking Vargas to load the bases, but struck out Gonzalez to nail down the clutch one-run victory with his 14th career save and first since 2024 at Double-A Akron.
The Revs took an early lead in the second game on Rey’s RBI fielder’s choice but ultimately left the bases loaded in the first.
Staten Island drew even on a two-out RBI single to left center by Lyle Miller-Green in the first, but the Revs went right back ahead to stay.
York plated four runs in the second, setting up the rally on bunt hits by Drew Ramirez and Tomo Otosaka. With two outs, starter Anthony Quattrocchi (0-4) threw errantly to first on a pickoff try, allowing Ramirez to score. Rey drilled an RBI double to right, briefly tying Teter for the Revs record with his 122nd RBI of the year. Teter promptly added an RBI single up the middle for his 123rd, and Ross nailed an RBI double to right as the Revs built a 5-1 lead, chasing the starter early.
Nick Decker led off the home second with an opposite field homer to left.
York responded as Otosaka cracked a towering three-run homer to right in the top of the third as his 10th of the year extended the lead to 8-2.
A wild pitch brought home a run for the FerryHawks in the bottom of the third, but Devonte Brown made a great running grab on Decker’s deep drive to right, stranding two others as the lead stood at 8-3.
Staten Island chased Revs starter Brendan Yagesh in the fourth and Garcia greeted reliever Brendan Collins (1-1) with a two-run single to right, slashing the lead to 8-5. Garcia made the final out at third as he was nailed attempting to steal by Austin Bates and York had an immediate answer on offense.
After a leadoff single by Otosaka (3-for-4, four runs) and the league-leading 39th double from Rey set the table, Teter rifled a two-run double down the right field line to pad the lead at 10-5.
Vargas launched a two-run homer to left in the bottom of the sixth as the FerryHawks again drew closer, down 10-7.
Teter led off the seventh with his 29th homer of the year on a drive to left center, capping a four-RBI game and a five-RBI day as he takes over the league lead with 126 RBI on the season, second most all-time in league history and just three shy of an Atlantic League record.
Josh Mollerus closed it out, striking out two in a scoreless seventh.
The Revs improve to a season-best 29 games over .500 at 77-48 overall, holding the league’s second best record and the second-best mark in franchise history. York is now 42-20 in the second half as a win on Sunday would match the 2024 first half for the best half in club annals.
Notes: Rey scored his 100th run in the second game as the Revs become the first team in Atlantic League history with four 100-run scorers; they were already the first team ever to have three reach the 100-mark. Teter has hit safely in 14 straight and has multiple hits in seven of his last eight; he has 22 RBI in 11 games in September and trails only Ozzie Canseco (129 with Newark in 2000) for the league’s RBI record. Ross went a combined 5-for-8 in the doubleheader with four doubles and notched his 96th RBI of the season; he now has 37 doubles, tied with Dunn for third in the league behind only Rey (39) and Teter (38). The Revs combined for 10 doubles in the twinbill and now have 282 for the season, set to lead the league in doubles for the fourth consecutive year. Thornton struck out the side for the fifth time in 13 outings with York as he has whiffed 28 batters in just 13.0 innings for an incredible 19.4 K/9.
