(May 7, 2017 – Bridgewater, NJ)  The York Revolution tallied ten hits but struggled to bunch the hits together, falling to the Somerset Patriots 4-1 on Sunday afternoon in front of 5,403 fans at TD Bank Ballpark.  After dropping the rubber match of the series, the Revs will continue their road trip to Long Island where they will kick off a three-game series against the Ducks on Monday night.

York jumped ahead early as Alonzo Harris doubled down the left field line on the first pitch of the game, advanced to third on a passed ball on the game’s second pitch, and scored on an RBI single to center by Angel Franco on the third pitch of the day.  Patriots starter Logan Darnell picked off Franco before Joel Guzman drilled a double off the left field wall, as the Revs settled for the 1-0 lead.

Somerset answered in the bottom of the first, scoring on a throwing error on an attempted double play turn that would have ended the inning, tying the game at 1-1.

Darnell (2-1) caught another runner stealing in the second, erasing Derrick Robinson after a two-out infield hit, and the lefty settled in to allow just one run over six innings, earning the win.

Logan Williamson (0-1) was solid in his return from a lower body injury, allowing three runs (two earned) over a season-high five innings in his third start, but was tagged with the loss.  His two earned runs are the most the lefty has allowed in three starts on the season, returning to the mound for the first time since 2015.

Somerset took the lead with a run in the third on an RBI double down the left field line by Justin Pacchioli, and added to it in the fifth as Darren Ford got hold of a solo home run to left.

Olmo Rosario added a line drive solo home run to left field in the bottom of the eighth for the final insurance run.

After Luis Alen singled and Travis Witherspoon walked with one out in the ninth, the Revs brought the tying run to the plate but Patriots closer Ryan Kelly fanned the final two batters, striking out the side for his third save.

Melvin Mercedes and Michael Click each worked perfect innings out of the Revolution bullpen to keep the game close.  Joe Van Meter handled the eighth, allowing just one run on Rosario’s home run, his first run allowed in six outings on the season.

Franco, Guzman, and Robinson paced York, each going 2-for-4 as the Revs out-hit the Patriots 10-6.

York lefty Frank Gailey (2-1, 3.00) makes the start on Monday night against Ducks southpaw Rafael Perez (1-0, 5.65) in the series opener at Long Island.  First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. and Revs fans can catch the action live beginning at 6:30 p.m. following The Baltimore Baseball Show on SportsRadio 1350, woyk1350.com, and on the WOYK app.
