(May 5, 2018) — The York Revolution (4-5) bats were quieted as the Revs dropped their fourth straight game in a 7-1 loss to the Lancaster Barnstormers (6-3) on Saturday night at Clipper Magazine Stadium.
The Barnstormers got on the board in the second inning on Ryan Casteel’s leadoff solo home run to right field off Revs starter Dominic Severino. They added another run when Rico Noel singled home Vladimir Frias on a blooper into center field to make it 2-0.
The Revs scored their lone run of the night on Luis Cruz’ two-out RBI single to left-center off Barnstormers starter Nate Reed, plating Travis Witherspoon who doubled to lead off the inning.
Up by one in the fifth, Lancaster added to their lead. After Rico Noel hit a leadoff triple over Witherspoon’s head in center, Tyler Bortnick drove him in with a sac fly to right, making it 3-1 Barnstormers.
Lancaster wasn’t done as Blake Gailen hit a towering three-run homer to right off Joe Van Meter in the seventh to increase the lead to 6-1. The Barnstormers tacked on one more in the eighth on Keenyn Walker’s RBI double.
Severino (0-1) suffered the loss for the Revs while Reed (2-0) picked up the win, his second of the season against York.
The three-game series wraps up Sunday at 1 p.m. as York right-hander Jay Gause (1-0, 3.00) faces Lancaster righty Brooks Hall (0-0, 1.80).
