(May 4, 2018) — Michael Burgess cracked a pair of home runs including a broken bat shot but the York Revolution (4-4) were handed their third straight loss on Friday night as the Lancaster Barnstormers (5-3) exploded offensively and won 13-5 in front of 6,927 fans at Clipper Magazine Stadium in the Barnstormers' home opener.

The Revs jumped on the board early when Burgess singled to right field off Barnstormers starter Jonathan Albaladejo, moving Alexi Casilla to third. Casilla came home on the same play when a throw from Lancaster right fielder Blake Gailen bounced past third baseman Tyler Bortnick, and the Revs led 1-0 after the top of the first.

It didn’t take long for the Barnstormers to answer. After Darian Sandford scored on Bortnick’s sac fly, Joey Terdoslavich hit a two-run home run to right field off Revs starter Mitch Atkins. The Barnstormers added two more runs on a wind-blown pop-up that dropped in the infield with two outs to make it 5-1.

The Barnstormers added to their lead with four runs in the second to make it 9-1. The inning was capped off by Terdoslavich’s three-run homer to right, his second of the night, giving him five RBI in the first two innings.

The Revs got one back in the fourth on Burgess’ solo homer to right-center, his first of the season, to make it 9-2.

The Barnstormers kept adding on as Kyle Waldrop launched a three-run homer to right in the bottom of the inning to make it a 12-2 game.

Down 13-2 in the top of the sixth, the Revs bats got going. Burgess hit a broken-bat two-run homer to right, his second of the game, and Travis Witherspoon’s sac fly to center brought home another run. The Revs put up three runs on five hits in the inning to make it 13-5 and knocked Albaladejo out of the game.

Albaladejo (1-1) was effective long enough for the win, going 5.2 innings, allowing five runs on nine hits with six strikeouts and no walks.  Atkins (0-1) suffered the loss for the Revs, charged with 12 runs (10 earned) on 12 hits over 3.2 innings.

The three-game series continues Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. in Lancaster.  Right-hander Dominic Severino (0-0, 3.60) starts for the Revs, opposite Lancaster lefty Nate Reed (1-0, 3.60).  Revs fans can catch the action on SportsRadio 1350, woyk1350.com, The New WOYK app, or WOYK on YouTube beginning at 6:10 p.m. with Darrell Henry and Michael Marcantonini on the call.

Notes: A Revs batter has tallied multiple homers in back-to-back games, as Zach Wilson went yard twice on Wednesday vs. the Road Warriors.  Revs reliever Nick Baker received a pair of at-bats as the Revs were forced to vacate the designated hitter spot in the order when Alexi Casilla exited with an apparent injury in the third inning; it was the first time since 2014 that a Revs pitcher received an at-bat, and Baker became the first pitcher in Revs history to receive multiple at-bats.  Baker allowed just one run in 2.1 innings before Zac Treece took over and retired all five of his batters faced as York used only two relievers.  Lancaster breaks a tie in the all-time head-to-head series at Clipper Magazine Stadium (now 55-54), but York leads the overall series, 119-109 all-time (3-2 this season).
