(June 18th, 2023 – York, Pa.):  The York Revolution fell to the Long Island Ducks, 10-4 in Sunday’s series finale at WellSpan Park. The Revs have dropped back-to-back games after winning five straight but maintain their first-place lead in the North Division at 1.5 games as they embark on a six-game road trip beginning Tuesday night in Charleston.

Playing under their Latin identity, Ritmo de York on Sunday afternoon, the Revs sent Pedro Vasquez to the mound, squaring off against Scott Harkin for the rubber match of the three-game series at WellSpan Park.

The Revs got down early as the Ducks scored a run against Vasquez in the second via a sacrifice fly to center field by Chance Sisco, plating the first run of the game.

Back-to-back doubles in the third produced another run as Sam Travis knocked in Alejandro De Aza, making it 2-0 Ducks.

The Revs were held hitless through the first three innings before getting a run in the fourth. Jacob Rhinesmith reached on an infield single and stole second base before he was driven in by Trey Martin who doubled up the right center field gap as the Revs trailed 2-1.

Vasquez retired the side in order in the fourth and fifth before running into trouble in the sixth inning. Long Island added to its lead as Sisco doubled down the right field line to make it 3-1, and after Vasquez was lifted with two outs and two runners in scoring position for Nelvin Correa, Long Island leadoff man Tzu-Wei Lin provided a backbreaking three-run homer to right with two strikes, opening the Long Island lead at 6-1.

Travis added another home run, a two-run shot to left center in the top of the seventh.

Harkin (1-1) threw five innings, giving up just two hits and one run, rebounding after getting shelled by the Revs in his season debut seven days earlier.

The Revs loaded the bases in the eighth inning against reliever McKenzie Mills, and Alejandro Rivero singled off the right field wall driving in two, cutting the deficit to 8-3.

The Ducks scored two more in the ninth against Victor Capellan on RBI doubles by Alex Dickerson and Brian Goodwin.

The Revs scored once in the bottom of the ninth on a Trent Giambrone sac fly to center field to provide the final margin.

Notes: York is now 7-8 against Long Island as 15 of the season’s first 45 games have come against the Ducks; the Revs will only face the Ducks six more times, all in the second half. Travis has hit five of his eight home runs in just six games played at WellSpan Park; he has 13 RBI in those six games after posting a three-RBI day Sunday. The Revs fall to 9-2 in day games. The 27-18 record matches the 2016 squad for the franchise’s best record through 45 games. Martin went 2-for-3 with a double and two walks and is now 16-for-32 on an eight-game hitting streak while batting a league-best .462 in the month of June. The Revs have the league’s top two individual averages in June as Drew Mendoza is hitting .442 for the month. Correa lost a five-outing scoreless streak that encompassed 8.1 innings of work. Capellan’s scoreless streak ended at six outings. J.P. Woodward tossed a perfect eighth for his sixth consecutive scoreless appearance, two shy of his career-best set in 2021. York lefty Nick Raquet (5-3, 3.38) starts Tuesday’s opener in Charleston at 6:35 p.m. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 98.9 FM & 1350 WOYK, 989woyk.com, The New WOYK app, and FloBaseball.TV beginning at 6:15 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
