(August 1, 2018) – The York Revolution fell behind early and could not recover, dropping a 9-3 decision to the Sugar Land Skeeters on Wednesday night in front of 4,246 fans at Constellation Field. The Revs drop to 2-4 on their seven-game visit to Sugar Land and will look to salvage the finale on Thursday before returning home.

Sugar Land grabbed early control with three runs, taking advantage of four walks in the bottom of the first inning. Revs starter Jonathan Sanchez struggled to find the strike zone early as walks to Barrett Barnes and Juan Silverio set the table. Anthony Giansanti provided the only hit of the inning on an RBI double to left. Silverio crossed on a wild pitch, and Albert Cordero added a sacrifice fly to center to make it 3-0.

The Skeeters added a run in the third as Matt Chavez reached on a free pass and came home on a wild pitch.

Down 4-0, the Revs loaded the bases with no outs in the fourth but were only able to plate one run on a Ryan Dent RBI fielder's choice.

The Skeeters recouped that run in the fifth on a jam shot RBI single to left by Alvaro Rondon, increasing the lead to 5-1.

York put together its best threat in the top of the sixth as Welington Dotel reached on an infield single and Luis Cruz drove a ground rule double to deep right. Michael Burgess brought home Dotel on a ground out and Dent smacked an RBI single to left-center, as the Revs sliced the deficit to 5-3.

Sugar Land had a big response, loading the bases with no outs against reliever Jailen Peguero as Barnes was hit by a pitch, Silverio reached on an infield single, and Giansanti walked. That set the stage for league RBI leader Courtney Hawkins who greeted Ricardo Gomez with a grand slam to left field, expanding the lead to 9-3.

Skeeters starter Yasutomo Kubo (1-0) claimed the win, allowing three runs despite nine hits in 5.1 innings.  Sanchez (0-1) suffered the loss, tagged with four runs on four hits and five walks in 3.2 innings while striking out four.

Notes: The Revs tallied 11 hits, reaching double figures for the fourth consecutive game despite dropping three of those four. Alexi Casilla went 3-for-5 and is now batting .463 over his last 12 games. Dotel went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and now has six hits in his last ten at-bats. Dent went 2-for-3, driving in a pair. Cruz was 2-for-4, extending his hitting streak to nine consecutive games; he is batting .471 (16-for-34) on the streak with six multi-hit games. The nine-game streak is tied for the Revs' third longest of the season, and is the longest since Melky Mesa hit safely in nine straight, June 18-29. York lefty Logan Williamson (4-2, 3.23) faces Sugar Land righty Dallas Beeler (6-1, 1.89) on Thursday at 8:05 p.m. ET. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, woyk1350.com, The New WOYK app, and WOYK 1350 on YouTube beginning at 7:45 p.m. ET with Darrell Henry on the call.
