(August 27, 2026 – Staten Island, NY): The York Revolution saw their three-game winning streak come to a close with a 6-5 loss in 10 innings to the Staten Island FerryHawks on Thursday night at SIUH Community Park. York (69-42, 34-14) has its first place lead trimmed to three games in the North Division with 15 to play in the regular season as their magic number to clinch a playoff berth remains at 13.
Fresh off a two-homer game the night before, Nick Dunn opened the scoring in the top of the first with his 24th homer of the year on a drive into the trees in right for a quick 1-0 lead.
Kennys Vargas gave Staten Island its first lead of the series with a two-run homer down the right field line in the bottom of the first.
York rallied with two outs in the second to answer. After Devonte Brown kept the inning alive with an infield single, Drew Ramirez belted an RBI double off the left center fence to tie the game. Oscar Hernandez followed with a go-ahead single to right for his first hit and RBI in a Revs uniform, spotting York a 3-2 lead.
Andrew Semo led off the home half of the second with a homer to left, tying the game at 3-3.
Staten Island grabbed its second lead of the game two innings later as Alfredo Gonzalez parked a leadoff homer off the batters’ eye in center for his ninth long ball in 11 games, making it a 4-3 score.
The Revs tied it in the fifth as Ramirez banged a leadoff double off the wall in right center, moved to third on Hernandez’ deep fly out to left, and scored on Tomo Otosaka’s sac fly to center for a 4-4 tie before things reached a stalemate that carried into extras.
York did not manage another hit until the tenth as three Staten Island relievers handled the sixth through ninth innings. Shed Long Jr. made a bid at potentially putting the Revs ahead after Jackson Ross walked to start the ninth, but his liner to deep right was hauled in by Blake Rutherford on a fantastic grab.
Meanwhile, Revs pitchers held the FerryHawks scoreless after the fourth as starter Nick Mikolajchak finished with three ground outs in a scoreless fifth inning and Jordan Geber stranded a pair in the sixth.
Denny Bentley recorded the first out of the seventh before handing it over to Ryan Shreve who induced a double play grounder off the bat of Gonzalez with two aboard.
Tyler Thornton struck out the side for the second straight outing and third time in the last four appearances in the eighth, and Shane Gray maneuvered around a leadoff single to strand two in a scoreless ninth.
Otosaka’s bunt single put runners at the corners with one out in the tenth and Dunn lifted the Revs ahead with a sac fly to right, plating Ramirez who made a great slide at home.
Revs closer Cam Robinson logged a strikeout and a ground out for the first two outs in the bottom of the tenth, but after a walk and a hit by pitch loaded the bases, another free pass to Nick Decker pushed the tying run across. With Osvaldo Abreu at bat, Hernandez blocked a pitch in the dirt out in front of the plate, but Matt Hogan made an aggressive dash from third, diving across the plate with the winning run just before Hernandez could recover and dive at him on his attempted tag as the FerryHawks snapped their nine-game losing streak with the victory.
Notes: York falls to 2-9 in extra innings having dropped five straight and 2-11 in walk-offs. The Revs drop to 16-2 against the FerryHawks this season. Otosaka’s bunt hit is the 26th of his Revs career, moving past Alexi Casilla for third in franchise history. Dunn’s two RBI give him 106 on the season, one behind teammate Brian Rey and Chris Nowak (2012) for the franchise record. York’s third through sixth batters in the order were held without a hit as the Revs were out-hit 10-6 in the game. Thornton has 17 strikeouts and just one walk in seven innings over his last seven appearances. Shreve enjoyed a fifth straight scoreless outing and has allowed just one earned run in his last 14 appearances. Gray has gone five straight without a run and eight in-a-row without an earned run. Mikolajchak’s four runs allowed tied a season-high as he allowed more than two runs for just the second time in 10 starts. Revs pitchers struck out 11, marking the eighth time in the last nine contests they’ve reached double digits. York was error free for the ninth time in the past 10 games, committing just one error during that stretch.
