(July 31, 2026 – York, Pa.): The York Revolution fell behind early, dropping Friday night’s contest to the Lexington Legends, 14-6 at WellSpan Park. York falls to 55-33, tied for the league’s best overall record, while their league-best 20-5 start to the second half has them three games ahead in first place.
Lexington grabbed a 4-0 lead in the top of the first, leading three batters into the game after Curtis Terry launched a three-run homer to left center, his sixth in 10 games against York. Gabe Howell added a deep sac fly to left center that resulted in a scary collision between left fielder Mike Rosario and center fielder Tomo Otosaka as both went all out in an attempt to make the grab but were able to remain in the game.
The Legends tacked on two more in the second on RBI singles by Jerry Huntzinger and Damiano Palmegiani.
York got on the board in the bottom of the second as Jacob Teter walked and went to third on a single by Shed Long Jr. before scoring on a sac fly to center from Drew Ramirez.
Lexington pushed the lead to 9-1 in the third, scoring two on Terry’s RBI single to left with Xane Washington being ruled safe on a slide at the plate despite the relay throw home out of a rundown beating his approach by a wide margin.
The total reached double figures in the fifth when Howell plopped an RBI single along the right field line.
The Revs produced three in their half of the fifth inning. Rosario was hit by a pitch and went to third on Devonte Brown’s hustle double in right center. Cole Griffith came through with a two-run double down the left field line and later scored on Nick Dunn’s ground out to second, cutting the deficit to 10-4.
Dylan Rock cracked a two-run homer to left in the top of the sixth to make it a 12-4 game, but Revs reliever Jason Bickford retired 10 of the next 11 in a season-high 4.1 innings by a reliever, eating up valuable length out of the bullpen.
Otosaka jolted a homer to right in the bottom of the seventh, his eighth of the season, finishing the damage against Lexington starter Tyler Guilfoil (4-6) who allowed five runs in seven innings while picking up the win.
Lexington plated two final runs in the ninth, scoring on Howell’s single to right center and a sac fly to right by Weston Eberly.
Teter delivered a broken bat RBI single to right center with two outs in the ninth to close the scoring, adding to his franchise record for RBI in a month with his 36th to finish off July.
Revs starter Julian Costa (5-2) suffered the loss, charged with nine runs on 11 hits in four innings. He tied a career-high with five strikeouts but issued a career-high five walks to what appeared to be an abnormally tight strike zone. The rookie lefty lost a four-game winning streak as he entered the game 4-0 with a 2.81 ERA in July and 4-0 with a 1.69 ERA at home, snapping a streak of five consecutive quality starts.
Notes: The Revs finish July with a 22-5 record, tied for sixth most wins in any month in league history while tying the all-time July record (Gastonia, 2022). Dunn went 2-for-5, extending his hitting streak to 20 consecutive games and his on-base streak to 36 games in-a-row. Brian Rey was held hitless, ending his second 20-game hitting streak of the year as he had hit safely in 40 of his previous 41 games and 55 of 58. Rey became the first in Revs history with multiple 20-game streaks and Dunn’s 20-gamer gives the Revs a franchise record three 20-game streaks in one season. The duo has accounted for three of the league’s five 20-game streaks this year and Dunn is now one shy of matching the league’s longest. Dunn’s 36-game on-base streak is the league’s fifth longest this season and fifth longest in Revs history (third longest this year). Austin Bates made his second career pitching appearance, recording the final two outs in the top of the ninth including his first career strikeout (Patrick Sanchez); he has retired all five batters faced in two outings. Otosaka has scored in nine straight and 18 of the last 19. Rosario (1-for-3) is batting .403 in 22 games since July 2. Teter (2-for-4) is hitting .444 (12-for-27) on a seven-game hitting streak; he has 40 RBI in 28 games since June 30 and 32 RBI in his last 16 home games. York had won 12 of 13 entering play, while their 17-2 and 23-4 stretches matched the best 19 and 27-game spans, respectively, in league history.
Next: The Revs will look to take the lead in the six-game series which is even at two wins apiece on Saturday night as lefty Shawn Rapp (2-3, 2.82) faces fellow southpaw Peyton Glavine (1-1, 1.57) at 6:30 p.m. It is Bike Night featuring Inside-the-Park Fireworks presented by Krise Transportation – Hiring School Bus and Van Drivers.
