(June 29, 2021): Baseball, double the fireworks, and FREE fun for the community – now THAT’S how you celebrate America’s birthday!

That’s the formula the York Revolution and Traditions Bank will use for the triumphant return of July4York presented by Traditions Bank. Recognizing the pent-up demand for a huge Independence Day celebration, the long-time partners have pulled out all the stops for the post-pandemic party that the York area needs.

The celebration begins Sunday with the FREE Planet Fitness Family Fun Zone in the Brooks Robinson Plaza of the Revs’ ballpark. From 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the Revs and Planet Fitness will welcome the community to enjoy inflatable fun houses, an inflatable slip-and-slide, face painting, balloon artists, the York Revolution prize wheel, and an obstacle course provided by Ninja Logic – all free!

Family First Health will provide free Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccinations through a trailer on the plaza.

The ballpark gates will open at 5 p.m. for a ticketed game featuring the Revolution and its rivals from across the river, the Lancaster Barnstormers. The first 1,000 fans will receive patriotic sunglasses, and the first 500 kids will get red, white, and blue glow sticks. Betsy Ross will stroll the concourse to share her part in the birth of our nation, and Big Boy Brass Band will provide a walking soundtrack to the fun of America’s pastime. Tickets are available here.

Then it’s the first-ever inside- and outside-the-park dual fireworks spectacular. Thanks to the sponsorship of Glatfelter Insurance, the Revolution will launch two simultaneous displays. Fans attending the game will see a huge fireworks show launched from center field, and all of York will be invited to take in a free second show launched at the same time from Small Athletic Field directly behind the ballpark. Portions of Arch Street will be closed off, and a section of Small Field will be allocated to allow the community to gather in either spot for the spectacle.

“The proximity of the two shows is going to make this one of the largest displays ever launched in York,” said Revolution President Eric Menzer.

Menzer stressed that the event is 100% the result of some very generous area businesses.

“As much as we would love to make this happen ourselves every year, we simply can’t do this alone,” he said. “It is part of the culture at Traditions Bank to be a true community bank and create reasons for this great community to come together. We can’t think of a better one each year than our nation’s birthday, and we are grateful that both Planet Fitness and Glatfelter Insurance share that same spirit of generosity. Because of these great area companies, one of the largest July 4 celebrations in the region can be free to our friends and neighbors.”
