(May 9, 2024 – Lancaster, Pa.): The York Revolution got off to a fiery start on Thursday as they looked for a sweep of the Lancaster Stormers, but the final game of their road trip was suspended due to anticipated rain in the top of the fourth inning with York holding a 5-0 lead.

Revs second baseman Kobe Kato made a terrific sliding backhand play on a Gaige Howard grounder to record the final out in the bottom of the first, stranding a runner at third and keeping the game scoreless.

Jacob Rhinesmith tripled to the gap in left center field to lead off the second inning and scored on Jamari Baylor’s RBI single up the middle.

Baylor kept his huge series going in the third inning, unloading a no doubt bomb to right field for his third home run of the series, a three-run shot to put York up 4-0. Baylor is now 5-for-9 with three homers and nine RBI in the three-game set.

York starter Ethan Lindow was able to escape to strand a pair of runners in scoring position in the bottom of the third inning with a groundout to short by Howard, keeping Lancaster off the board.

York’s first two hitters were retired in the top of the fourth inning, but Kato scorched an infield single off the glove of second baseman Trace Loehr to keep the inning alive. Kato stole second, moved to third on a throwing error, and scored on a wild pitch for the Revs’ fifth run.

After back-to-back walks to Donovan Casey and David Washington, the game was delayed and eventually suspended with York leading 5-0 in the top of the fourth.

The game is expected to be resumed when the Revs visit Lancaster next weekend. York technically remains in the middle of a season-opening 6-2 road trip, still going for a sweep of the Stormers as all of Thursday’s stats will become official once the game is eventually completed.

Aaron Fletcher takes the ball for York on Friday as the Revs return home to face Gastonia in the opener of a six game homestand beginning at 6:30 p.m. It is Breaking the Silence Night presented by Bartz Brigade, Building Bridges for Brianna, and NAMI. The night also features a Pop-It Toy Giveaway to the first 500 kids. It is also part of WellSpan Wellness Weekend, focusing on Mental Health.
