(August 7, 2026 – Hagerstown, Md.):  The York Revolution saw a late lead ripped away in a 7-6 defeat to the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars on Friday night at Meritus Park. York’s 10-game road winning streak comes to a close as the Revs’ first place lead is now 4.0 games in the North Division at 23-7 in the second half (58-35 overall).

York led early as Shed Long Jr. launched a homer to right center in the top of the second and Devonte Brown ripped a two-out RBI single into left for a 2-0 headstart.

Hagerstown scored an unearned run in the third on Leobaldo Cabrera’s bloop single along the right field line and tied the game with another unearned run on a passed ball in the fifth, but the damage was minimal against Revs starter Shawn Rapp who struck out a career-high 11 over five innings.

York rallied for a four-run inning in the sixth, retaking the lead at 6-2. The Revs loaded the bases with walks from reliever Trey Braithwaite, and Brown (3-for-4, three RBI) once again came through with a two-out, two-run single to right to break the tie. Nick Dunn followed with a two-run single of his own on a liner to left.

Denny Bentley handled a flawless first five outs in the sixth and seventh out of the Revs bullpen, but after Jared Carr singled to keep the seventh alive, Cabrera was awarded a two-run homer on a drive down the left field line that was ruled fair. Following the visible disbelief and contesting from every member of the Revs on-field defense, York manager Rick Forney was ejected by home plate umpire Derek Whitfield during the argument that ensued. It was just the second time Forney has been ejected in his managerial career with the Revs and first time since June 4, 2024 (at Charleston).

With momentum having shifted in favor of the home team, the Boxcars rallied in the ninth to rip away the victory. With one out, Darick Hall popped a game-tying two-run bloop single into no man’s land along the left field line. Following a two-out infield single by Cristhian Rodriguez that loaded the bases, pinch hitter Robert Brooks took four balls from York closer Josh Mollerus (2-2) for the game-ending walk as the Revs endured the brutal one-run defeat.

Notes: The 10-game road winning streak is the second longest in franchise history behind a 12-gamer in 2019. York has dropped back-to-back games for the first time since July 7-8. The Revs fall to 55-3 when leading after eight innings. They drop to 2-8 in walk-off decisions with their first walk-off defeat since June 13 at Lancaster. They fall to 9-13 in last at-bat decisions having endured such defeats on back-to-back nights. The Revs are now 42-10 when scoring first after dropping the last two despite having early leads. Rapp more than doubled his previous career high in strikeouts and came within one of the single-game franchise record by a lefty; he struck out the side in the second and third innings and eight of his first 10 outs came via strikeouts. Revs pitchers struck out a season high-tying 16 batters, their most since May 15 vs Staten Island. Rapp’s 11 strikeouts are the most by a Revs pitcher since Braden Scott fanned 12 Lancaster Stormers in the second half opener on July 3. Rapp has allowed just two earned runs in 21.2 innings over his last four outings. Brendan Collins retired all four batters in setup relief and has allowed just one hit and one run in 5.1 innings since joining the team. Dunn extended his on-base streak to 42 games, tying Jackson Ross for third longest in team history and second longest in the league this season. Brown’s three hits marked a season-high while his three RBI are his most since a two-homer, four-RBI game on June 17 vs Southern Maryland. Mike Rosario’s steal in the sixth gives him 20 stolen bases on the season, second-most on the squad.
