(July 13, 2018) — The York Revolution bats came alive in the middle innings and the Revs never looked back, cruising to a 16-1 blowout win over the Long Island Ducks Friday night at PeoplesBank Park.

The Ducks got on the board first in the game, pushing across a run in the first inning when Taylor Ard singled off Revs starter Robert Carson to bring home Emilio Bonifacio and give the Ducks a 1-0 lead.

Long Island threatened again in the third with back-to-back hits off Carson to set up second and third with no outs. Carson induced a comeback grounder and two lineouts to end the inning and strand both runners, keeping it a 1-0 game.

Ducks starter Lee Sosa held the Revs hitless through three innings, but things changed quickly in the bottom of the fourth.

Alexi Casilla led off the fourth by chopping a double over the third baseman Cody Puckett’s head and into the left field corner. Welington Dotel followed with an RBI bloop single to right field to tie the game at 1-1. Two batters later, Zach Wilson hit a pop up that Ducks second baseman Jordany Valdespin dropped in shallow right-center, which allowed Dotel to score and give the Revs a 2-1 lead. Luis Cruz, Ryan Dent and Jared Mitchell all added RBI singles in the inning, making it 5-1 Revs after four frames.

The Revs added four more runs in the fifth as Cruz hit a sac fly to left and Ryan Dent smashed a three-run home run over the left-center field wall, his eighth homer of the season, to push the Revs’ lead to 9-1.

Carson was locked in, working with a huge lead. The lefty went five strong innings, allowing just one run while scattering eight hits. Carson (6-3) struck out four batters and walked just one en route to his sixth win of the season.

Even with their comfortable lead, the Revs weren’t done scoring. They tacked on seven more runs on eight hits while sending 11 men to the plate in the sixth inning to put the game out of reach. The inning started with a Mitchell leadoff single, the first of a season-high seven consecutive hits for the Revs, one shy of matching a club record. The rally featured five singles and three doubles, and seven different Revs drove in a run in the inning.

Jailen Peguero, Devan Watts and James Pugliese combined to throw four shutout innings with five strikeouts, no walks and just two hits allowed in relief of Carson. Peguero worked two innings and had four strikeouts.

The loss went to Sosa (0-2), who gave up seven runs (five earned) on five hits with four walks in four and one-third innings. In relief of Sosa, Branden Pinder allowed seven runs and seven hits in just two-thirds of an inning and Carlos Pimentel gave up two runs in two innings.

Notes: All nine Revs starters had a hit in the game, and six of the nine had two hits. Eight of the nine had an RBI while four had multiple RBIs, including Dent with four and Cruz with three. Eight of the nine scored a run, with six scoring multiple runs, including Michael Burgess and Zach Wilson with three each. Three Revs relievers combined to retire the final nine batters they faced and 12 of the final 13.
