2024 Atlantic League champion becomes latest Revolution alum to make MLB debut
(September 11, 2026 – York, Pa.):
Former York Revolution star outfielder Rudy Martin Jr. has been called up by the Toronto Blue Jays, it was announced today. The 2024 Atlantic League champion and Revolution record holder will make his big league debut with his first appearance.
Martin Jr. set the Revs single-season stolen base record with a league-leading 78 steals in 2024, headlining a Revs lineup that set the league record with 335 steals as a team that season. He ranked third in the league with a .326 average and added a career-high 12 homers and 57 RBI while scoring 108 runs, second-most in the league and at the time, third most in Revs history (now seventh). He was an Atlantic League All-Star selection and was recognized for his off-field impact as the Revs’ Corey Thurman Community Player of the Year.
He used his time in York to earn winter and summer contracts in Mexico along with a second tour of duty with the Kansas City Royals, getting back to Triple-A Omaha the past two seasons with the team that originally selected him out of Lewisburg (MS) High School in the 25th round of the 2014 draft. The 30-year-old hit .385 for the Triple-A Storm Chasers this year and was traded to the Baltimore Orioles on July 18 where he was elevated to a 40-man roster for the first time in his career. After being claimed off waivers by Toronto on July 23, he played 27 games for Triple-A Buffalo and has a combined 45 steals in the minors this season. Now in his 12th professional season, is set to make his big league debut.
Martin Jr. becomes the 16th player to go from York to the Majors and the eighth to reach the big leagues for the first time. He is the third former Revs player on a Major League roster this season, joining LHP Nick Raquet (2023) who appeared in four games with the Orioles this season after debuting with the St. Louis Cardinals last year and LHP Brendan Cellucci (2025), Martin Jr.’s teammate at Buffalo who was called up for the first time by Toronto on August 19 but did not appear in a game.
Former Revs first baseman Chad Tracy (2013-14) has also made headlines orchestrating the Boston Red Sox’ remarkable turnaround as Boston’s interim manager this year, becoming the first former Atlantic League player to manage a big league club.
The Blue Jays host the Baltimore Orioles this weekend at Rogers Centre where Martin Jr. could see his first MLB action.
