(April 2) — When the returning members of the 2017 York Revolution roster receive their Atlantic League Championship rings on Opening Day this season, one lucky Revolution fan will be on the field to receive one as well.

The defending champs announced today that they ordered one extra ring in the offseason and, in place of the player name appearing on each of the Revs’ rings, emblazoned it with “RevsFan.” In a nod to the popular Lord of the Rings books and movies, team officials described the giveaway as “One ring to represent them all.”

“Revolution fans were integral in the team’s championship victory, so we wanted to acknowledge the ‘team behind the team’ when we celebrate that victory at the start of this season,” said Revolution President Eric Menzer. “Since we can’t, unfortunately, give every fan a ring, we’re going to randomly select a fan and invite him or her to be on the field during the ceremony and accept a ring on behalf of the best fans in baseball.”

All full-season ticket holders have already been automatically entered into the drawing, and the Revolution will add in the names of anyone who buys tickets to the April 26 season opener against the Lancaster Barnstormers. No purchase is necessary to enter, however. Those who wish to be entered into the drawing can sign up in the York Revolution Ticket Office.

Menzer said the team will draw the name of the winner 48 hours before the 6:30 p.m. game and notify the fan representative of his or her role in the Opening Day ceremonies.

Featuring the script logo of “York” and an Atlantic League trophy for each of the three titles the Revolution has won, the championship rings were designed by Baron Championship Rings, whose other clients have included the 2016 NBA Champion Cleveland Cavaliers. The fan version of the Revolution championship ring is valued at approximately $200.

The first 1,000 fans through the gate on April 26 will receive a free 2017 Atlantic League Champions hat presented by WellSpan Sports Medicine.

The pre-game celebration will also include the unveiling of the team’s third pennant in the outfield of PeoplesBank Park.
