A four-run third inning was all the York Revolution would need, highlighted by a Jared Mitchell three-run homer, as York salvaged the finale against the Bridgeport Bluefish, winning 6-3 on Sunday afternoon at PeoplesBank Park.
The Bluefish took the lead in the early going as Andrew Lambo led off the second with a single to right, advanced to second on a groundout, and come in to score on a Gustavo Molina single to left for a 1-0 lead.
Bridgeport starter Jorge Perez took the mound to warm up for the second but appeared to suffer an injury and was pulled from the game. The Bluefish turned to Frank DeJiulio, Jr. who worked around a double by Mitchell for a scoreless second, but would run into trouble in the third.
Alonzo Harris led off the third with a high fly ball that clanked off the upper right corner of the Arch Nemesis, narrowly missing a home run, as he settled for a leadoff double. After a sacrifice bunt from Travis Witherspoon, Harris would come in to score on another near home run, as Isaias Tejeda clipped the top of the newspaper ad above the yellow line on the Arch Nemesis, tying the score at 1-1 on a long single. Angel Franco followed with a walk, and Mitchell launched a towering home run down the right field line to give the Revs a 4-1 lead.
The Bluefish came back with two in the fourth against Revs starter Frank Gailey. Jose Gil began the inning with a bunt single and Lambo again singled to right. After Gailey set down Jonathan Galvez on strikes, Tony Abreu and Molina came through with back-to-back RBI singles to cut the York lead to 4-3. Gailey (7-6) would finish strong, however, working five innings and striking out five, picking up his seventh win of the season, tying him for the league lead.
The Revs came back with the home run ball in the fourth as Harris led off the inning, this time clearing the Arch Nemesis in left for his eighth of the year, extending the lead to 5-3.
The Revs added a final insurance run in the eighth, as Alexi Casilla got the inning started with a one-handed bunt single to extend his hitting streak to 15 in-a-row. Casilla stole second and advanced to third on a poor throw from Gil. Two batters later, Casilla came home on a sacrifice fly by Franco to make it 6-3.
York’s bullpen followed Gailey in holding the lead for the Revs, as Joe Van Meter, Curtis Partch, Ricardo Gomez, and Brad Allen each tossed a scoreless frame, with Allen nailing down his 12th save of the season.
The Revs will travel to Southern Maryland on Monday to open a three-game set against the division-leading Blue Crabs. Steve Janas (1-4, 5.18) will go for the Revs on Monday night, facing off with Daryl Thompson (5-4, 3.76) in a 6:35 p.m. tilt.

Notes: York drew a season-high 10 walks in Sunday’s game, and overcame 13 runners stranded in the win. The Revs have now won four consecutive series finales. The win evened York’s second half record at 5-5 through 10 games.
