In a week full of near comebacks, the York Revolution were unable to overcome an early deficit on Sunday, losing 6-2 to the Somerset Patriots on Father’s Day afternoon in front of 6,103 fans at TD Bank Ballpark.  After suffering a series sweep, the Revs will look to rebound when they kick off a seven-game homestand on Monday evening against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs at PeoplesBank Park.

 

Somerset took control of the game early, as Greg Golson slammed a solo homer to dead center in the bottom of the first, and Kyle Roller launched an opposite field two-run shot for a 3-0 lead.

 

The Patriots added a run in the third on a two-out RBI single to left by Justin Pacchioli, as the Revs’ deficit grew to 4-0.

 

The Revs would keep it at 4-0 until the seventh, when after a two-out error prolonged the inning, Golson came up with a two-run bloop single, giving him a three-hit, three-RBI day, and his team a 6-0 advantage.

 

It was more than enough for Somerset lefthander Rick Teasley (6-1) who took over sole possession of the league lead in wins, limiting York to three hits over seven shutout innings.  He walked none and struck out five, and improved to 5-0 with a 0.73 ERA at home.

 

The Revs broke up the shutout against reliever Justin Wright in the eighth.  Derrick Robinson doubled off the left field wall with one out, and with two outs, scored on a Travis Witherspoon double to left-center, which was followed by an RBI single to left by Alonzo Harris.

 

Revs starter Frank Gailey (5-5) suffered the loss, exiting after just two innings.  He was charged with three runs on four hits and a pair of walks in the shortest outing by a Revs starter this season.

 

Somerset won despite stranding 13 runners.  The Patriots left a runner on in the first, and two runners in every inning from the second through the seventh.  York righty Joe Van Meter worked the Revs’ only 1-2-3 frame in the eighth, and retired all four batters he faced.
