(August 25, 2026 – Staten Island, NY): The York Revolution kicked off their six-game road series with the Staten Island FerryHawks, winning 7-2 on Tuesday evening at SIUH Community Park. The Revs (68-41, 33-13) have won six of their last seven games, increasing their first place lead to four games in the North Division with 17 games remaining in the regular season.
York’s first nine hitters were retired by Hawks starter Anthony Quattrocchi, but Tomo Otosaka worked a leadoff walk to begin the fourth, sparking the offense into gear. Nick Dunn followed with a single to center, and after a double steal, Otosaka scored on a wild pitch for the game’s first run. Jacob Teter added a sac fly to deep right for his 102nd RBI of the season and a 2-0 lead.
The Revs doubled that advantage in the fifth as Mike Rosario drilled a one-out double off the center field fence and Austin Bates was hit by a pitch. Otosaka drove in both with a two-run triple to left as the lead expanded to 4-0.
Revs starter Julian Costa (8-2) tossed five scoreless innings to pick up the win. The lefty allowed just five hits and one walk while striking out three.
Staten Island made noise in the sixth as pinch-hitter Ian Yetsko led off with a single against reliever Tommy Ellisen who was tagged with his first hit allowed in six pro outings. A pair of walks loaded the bases and with a 2-0 count on Gary Mattis, lefty Denny Bentley was summoned. Mattis worked another walk to force in a run and Nick Decker later added a sac fly to left, but that came in between a pair of strikeouts from Bentley as the Revs avoided the big inning, stranding the tying two runners in scoring position.
Bentley struck out Matt Hogan to begin the bottom of the seventh, combining with Ryan Shreve to strike out the side.
York added three insurance runs in the eighth. Otosaka was again the instigator with a leadoff walk before stealing second and third. With the infield in, Dunn ripped a single to right for his 101st RBI of the year. Brian Rey followed with an RBI double to right center for his 106th RBI, climbing within one of a Revs single-season record while tying Dunn for the league lead with his 33rd double. Jackson Ross later added a sac fly to right, providing the final 7-2 margin.
Tyler Thornton struck out all three in the eighth and Shane Gray logged a pop up and a pair of strikeouts in a perfect ninth to close it out.
York’s bullpen set down the final 12 FerryHawk hitters, 10 of which were struck out.
Notes: York has a magic number of 14 to clinch a second half title and a postseason berth. Costa has a combined 21 victories this year between his college and pro seasons. Ellisen had begun his pro career with five consecutive scoreless outings and no hits allowed in 4.1 innings. Thornton has 14 strikeouts in his last six innings, all scoreless. Otosaka stole three bases for the third time this year and second consecutive game, giving him 46 steals on the season, tied for sixth in Revs history (Trey Martin, 2023); he adds to his Revs all-time career record which he claimed on Sunday, now with 92 steals in a York uniform. Otosaka scored twice giving him 105 runs on the year, sixth most in Revs history. Rey ranks second in Revs history with 106 RBI, one behind Chris Nowak’s club record of 107 set in 2012. Teter’s 102 RBI rank fourth while Dunn’s 101 RBI rank fifth. York improves to 15-1 against Staten Island this season. Tuesday’s game marked the first road contest of the season between the two teams who will meet nine times in the season’s final 18 games, all in New York. The Revs have scored 830 runs this season, moving into eighth in league history (ahead of Gastonia, 2021). York matches its highwater mark of the season at 27 games over .500.
