(September 10, 2026 – Waldorf, Md.): The York Revolution picked up a crucial victory on Thursday evening, defeating the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 9-4 at Regency Furniture Stadium. The Revs improve to 75-48 for the season and 40-20 in the second half, pulling even with Long Island for first place with three games to play. The Revs need to finish one game better this weekend than the Ducks who hold the tiebreaker and are hosting Southern Maryland while the Revs visit Staten Island.
It was a historic victory for the Revs as Rick Forney became the second fastest in league history to 300 wins (499 games). Brian Rey broke the Revs single-season hits record with his 173rd of the year, and Julian Costa (10-3) reached double digit victories in his rookie season as part of the total team effort.
York opened the scoring in the third as Tomo Otosaka’s squeeze bunt brought home the game’s first run. Nick Dunn followed with an RBI bloop hit to center as York grabbed a 2-0 lead.
Southern Maryland answered in the third as Ezequiel Pagan ripped a two-out RBI single to left before the tying run came across on an error.
The Revs immediately went back ahead as Otosaka laid down his second bunt hit of the game and Dunn slugged a two-run homer toward the right field corner, moving into a tie for seventh in Revs history with his 25th of the season as York was on top 4-2 in the fourth.
The Revs plated two more in the fifth as Drew Ramirez pounded an RBI single through a drawn-in infield and later beat a relay home when Otosaka was caught in a rundown as the lead grew to 6-2.
York got to Blue Crabs starter Ian Kahaloa (9-9) for six runs on 12 hits in 4.2 innings, and added three more against reliever Jordan Carr who struggled with his control in the sixth. After two walks and a hit by pitch of Shed Long Jr. loaded the bases, a walk to Mike Rosario forced in another run. Ramirez capped the offensive production with a two-run double to deep right center as the Revs scored seven unanswered to build a 9-2 lead.
Costa limited Southern Maryland to just two runs (one earned) over six strong innings, facing the minimum over his final three frames. He walked none and struck out two becoming the Revs’ first rookie 10-game winner while tying Shane Gray for the team lead in victories this season.
Jordan Geber fired two scoreless out of the Revs bullpen, and Southern Maryland only managed two final runs on a two-out single by Ryan McCarthy against Ryan Shreve in the ninth.
Notes: The Revs have reached the 75-win mark for the sixth time in franchise history and the 40-win mark in a half for the 10th time. Their .610 overall winning percentage and .667 winning percentage in a half are the second greatest marks in club history behind only the 2024 squad. Only current Blue Crabs manager Brett Jodie reached 300 victories faster than Forney, doing it in 474 games while managing the Somerset Patriots. Otosaka (4-for-6) now has 10 bunt hits on the season and moves past Wilson Valdez (27) for second most bunt hits in a Revs career with 28, trailing only James Shanks (32). Dunn totaled three RBI and has 114 on the season, behind Rey (119) and Jacob Teter (121) as all three have eclipsed the previous club record (107) this season. Rey’s 173 hits surpasses Shanks’ total of 172 in 2010 for the club record. Teter reached each of his first four times and went 2-for-3 as he is now batting .480 on a 12-game hitting streak and .528 in nine games in September. Costa improves to 23-5 combined over his college and pro seasons in 2026 and held the opposition to one earned run or fewer for the sixth time in 15 pro starts (second time vs Southern Maryland). Costa has held opponents to three runs or fewer in 10 of his 15 outings.
