(May 18) — Before becoming a hero to legions of Pittsburgh Steelers fans, legendary running back Rocky Bleier became a hero to the nation by serving in Vietnam as a member of the United States Army. On Sunday, May 28, he’ll join the York Revolution in honoring his fellow veterans—his fellow heroes—when the team gives free admission to all veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces.

A four-time Super Bowl champion, Bleier will participate in an exclusive meet-and-greet event from 11:30 a.m. to noon on Sunday for those who’ve purchased tickets to the event and the two-hour buffet that follows. Tickets are available here.

Bleier will sign autographs following a special pre-game ceremony honoring veterans of all service branches, who can pick up free tickets for the day’s game in advance in the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office at PeoplesBank Park. The free tickets for veterans are presented by Glick Fire Equipment Company and Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Gates will open at noon that Sunday, and the Revolution will take on the Sugar Land Skeeters at 1 p.m. as part of a series sponsored by Lifepath Christian Ministries.

“Rocky’s incredible story is one of perseverance and strength—of both mind and body,” said Revolution President Eric Menzer. “And it didn’t end upon his return from Vietnam with a Purple Heart and Bronze Star or even when he was presented his fourth Super Bowl ring. He continues to inspire people and to remind us all of the supreme gift given to our country by the brave men and women who have served it. We couldn’t think of a better Revs game to which to invite him, and we are thrilled he’ll be here to be thanked for his service and to help us thank all those who’ve served.”
