BOX SCORE

The York Revolution had a baserunner in every inning but could not combine the opportunities with a big hit in a 7-1 loss to the Sugar Land Skeeters on Friday evening at PeoplesBank Park.

The Revs got out to a 1-0 lead in the third as Derrick Robinson led off the inning with a single, stole second, and came around to score on a Ryan Dent double down the line in left. Robinson had two hits in the ball game, extending his hitting streak to six in-a-row, and tallying a multi-hit game for the sixth time this year.

The Skeeters responded just a half inning later, scoring four in the fourth against Revs starter Frank Gailey. Ryan Jackson, who just signed with the Skeeters on Friday, blasted a three run homer to left center field to plate Kevin Ahrens and Travis Scott who had each singled in front of him. Later in the inning, Joe Benson and Wilfredo Rodrigues laced back-to-back doubles to tack on one more, pushing the Skeeter lead to 4-1.

Then in the sixth, Albert Cordero cracked an RBI single high off the Arch Nemesis in left, and Benson went deep to left field for a solo homer.

Sugar Land landed one final blow in the seventh on a Scott sacrifice fly, scoring Derek Miller who had led off the frame with an infield single.

Skeeters starter Bobby Blevins (3-1) picked up the win, rebounding from a loss to the Revs seven days earlier in Texas.  The righty scattered seven hits and allowed one run in six innings.  York’s offense stalled thanks in part to hitting into three double plays and stranding eight base runners.

Gailey (5-2), the league leader in wins, suffered his second loss of the year, charged with a season-high six runs on nine hits in 5.2 innings.

The Revs look to get back on track at home Saturday night against Sugar Land, sending righty Steve Janas (1-3, 5.17) against Skeeter lefty Josh Outman (0-0, 4.50) at 6:30 p.m. on Star Wars Night at PeoplesBank Park.  The evening features a Jersey Auction presented by LifePath Christian Ministries and Postgame Fireworks presented by AAA Southern PA.  It is also AAA Night where members who show their card in the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office receive buy one, get one free tickets.
