(August 23, 2026 – York, Pa.): Tomo Otosaka became the franchise’s new all-time stolen base king and Nick Dunn reached the prestigious 100 RBI mark sparking another big day for the offense as the York Revolution capped a 5-1 week with an 11-6 victory over the High Point Rockers on Sunday afternoon at WellSpan Park. The Revs (67-41, 32-13) maintain their three-game lead for first place with three weeks and 18 games to go in the regular season.
Brendan Yagesh started the day with some of his own franchise history, tying a record by striking out the first four batters of the game, as the lefty whiffed five through the first two innings.
Luke Napleton thrust the Rockers in front with a three-run homer to left center in the top of the third, tying High Point’s franchise record with his 32nd of the season.
The Revs put together a huge answer, scoring eight times in the bottom of the third, all with two outs for their biggest inning since a season-high nine-run frame on July 10 at Lexington. Austin Bates ignited the outburst with a double and Dunn coaxed a one-out walk from Rockers starter Alex Barker (0-1). Jacob Teter drove in the first run with a two-out single to right for his 101st RBI of the year. Jackson Ross walked to load the bases and Shed Long Jr. rammed an RBI single back up the middle with a second run scoring as D.J. Burt booted it for an error to tie the score. After Long Jr. stole second, Devonte Brown walked to load the bases and beat out an attempted force at second on Drew Ramirez’ ground ball to third, giving York the lead. Bates walked to force in a run and Otosaka slashed a two-run single to right. A double steal capped the onslaught as Otosaka swiped second to tie the franchise record with his 88th steal, drawing a throw which allowed Bates to steal home for an 8-3 lead.
Yagesh struck out Mikey Kane to begin the fourth as nine of his first 10 outs came on strikeouts, but four straight reached including an RBI single by Quincy Nieporte forcing the Revs to go to the bullpen.
Jordan Geber (1-0) entered with the bases loaded and retired Napleton and Ryan McCarthy on infield pop ups to maintain an 8-4 lead before striking out two in a 1-2-3 fifth, earning the win.
Brendan Collins retired the side in order in the sixth, and the Revs added to the lead while making history in the home half.
Bates again sparked things with a leadoff single to left and was replaced on a fielder’s choice by Otosaka who stole second for his third swipe of the day, surpassing Wilson Valdez (2014-15) who was in attendance on Sunday afternoon for the franchise record 89th steal of his Revs career. After Otosaka raised the second base bag in celebration while acknowledging the home crowd, he became the seventh in Revs history to score 200 runs when Dunn drilled a double off the Arch Nemesis for his 100th RBI of the season, giving the Revs an Atlantic League record three players with 100 RBI on the same team. Brian Rey plated Dunn with a single to right as the Revs’ lead grew to 10-4.
Napleton doubled and scored on McCarthy’s ground out in the seventh but Josh Mollerus allowed nothing else in relief, and Tommy Ellisen followed with his fifth consecutive scoreless outing to begin his pro career, capped off by a jaw-dropping diving play by Ramirez up the middle from short to end the inning.
Rey launched his 19th homer of the year to left center in the bottom of the eighth, tying Jason Aspito (2008) for second in Revs history with his 105th RBI of the year, just two shy of the record of 107 set by Chris Nowak in 2012.
Burt tripled and scored on Nieporte’s ground out in the ninth but lefty Denny Bentley allowed nothing further, closing out the 11-6 win.
Notes: Yagesh joins Corey Thurman (2009), Frank Gailey (2015), and J.T. Hintzen (2023) as Revs pitchers to begin a game with four consecutive strikeouts. Rey needs one more homer to give the Revs a franchise record-tying three players with 20 or more homers; York accomplished that feat in 2019 when Telvin Nash, Isaias Tejeda, and Melky Mesa all blasted 20 or more. York improves to 40-17 at home, 22-6 since June 21. They finish the season series 8-4 against High Point, their best mark in series history. Otosaka ties a Revs season best with three steals in a game (second time) and has 43 steals this season, surpassing his own mark from 2023 for the seventh highest single season total in club history. Rey (3-for-5) leads the league with 152 hits, ninth most in franchise history. Teter has a 10-game hitting streak. York tied a season best with six steals as a team. The Revs have scored double figures in a league record 35 games this year including four of the past five. The Revs have scored 823 runs as a team, surpassing their own total of 821 from last season for ninth most in league history. Ellisen has not allowed a hit in 4.1 innings as a pro.
