(August 21, 2018) — The York Revolution were one out away from a potential rain-shortened win over the Lancaster Barnstormers on Tuesday night at PeoplesBank Park, but the game was called off with two outs in the top of the fifth inning due to rain. The Revs were leading 5-2 when the umpiring crew called for the tarp. Play never resumed and the game was postponed, one out shy of being official.

The Barnstormers scored early to go up 1-0 when Jimmy Paredes ripped an RBI double to left-center off Revs starter Troy Terzi in the top of the first inning.

Alonzo Harris responded with a leadoff solo home run over the Arch Nemesis to tie the game off Barnstormers starter Nate Reed in the bottom of the first. After Melky Mesa’s single to left, Telvin Nash smoked an RBI double to right-center to score Mesa and give the Revs a 2-1 lead.

After Terzi worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the top of the third, the Revs tacked onto their lead in the bottom of the inning.

Harris led off with a solo homer to left-center, his second of the game, on a 3-0 fastball from Reed. Welington Dotel brought another run home with a fielder’s choice RBI grounder. Ryan Dent followed with a two-out RBI single to left-center, which extended the Revs’ lead to 5-1 and chased Reed from the game.

Reed lasted just two and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on six hits.

Darian Sanford beat out a two-out squeeze bunt single in the fourth to score Anderson De La Rosa from third and trim the Revs’ lead to 5-2.

Terzi retired the first two batters he faced in the top of the fifth, but walked the third batter, Trayvon Robinson. Before Terzi could throw a pitch to KC Hobson, the umpires called for the tarp.

Notes: Harris’ leadoff home run would have been the sixth of his Revs career and a new franchise record; he is currently tied for the all-time lead with five alongside Scott Grimes (2010-12) and Justin Greene (2014). It also would’ve been Harris’ second multi-homer game in his Revs career.

Up Next: The Revs and Barnstormers will play two seven-inning games in a doubleheader starting at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. The Revs need two victories in the final three meetings of the regular season with the Barnstormers to clinch a tie in the season series and retain the Community Cup. Tickets are available at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Revs Ticket Office.
