Reliever becomes latest Revs player headed to MLB organization and second in past week to join the Twins
(June 2, 2026 – York, Pa.):
The contract of York Revolution right-hander Hunter Gregory has been purchased by the Minnesota Twins, it was announced by the club today. The reliever becomes the fourth member of the 2026 Revolution roster to go to a Major League organization and the second in the past week to join the Twins, after starter Nick Mikolajchak’s contract was purchased by Minnesota last Wednesday.
Gregory departs the Revs with a 2-0 record and a 2.63 in 13 appearances. He began his season with 11 consecutive outings (11.2 innings) without allowing an earned run. Overall, he struck out 20 and walked just five in 13.2 innings of work.
“He’s a power arm that can pitch high leverage innings in the back of the ballgame,” commented Revs manager Rick Forney. “There seems to be some opportunity in the Twins organization right now and they’re looking to our league to fill out their rosters.”
The 27-year-old joined the Revs for his sixth pro season after tossing a pair of scoreless outings for the Toronto Blue Jays in big league spring training camp. An eighth-round draft pick of the Jays out of Old Dominion in 2021, Gregory worked as a starter early in his career before settling into a relief role. He rolled out a 2.84 ERA with four saves in 33 outings for Double-A New Hampshire last season while also making 11 appearances for Triple-A Buffalo. The Chesapeake, VA native got into 44 games last year after finishing third in the Eastern League with 43 appearances the year before.
Gregory becomes the 60th player in Revs history to have his contract purchased by a Major League club in-season, not counting postseason signings or foreign transfers. The four contract purchases this season mark the earliest in Revs history that the team has had this number of transfers to big league organizations.
Gregory and Mikolajchak both going to Minnesota marks the second time in Revs history that two players have gone consecutively to the same Major League organization in the same season. LHP Jesus Sanchez and OF Val Majewski both had their contracts purchased by the Oakland Athletics on the same date, May 27, 2010.
