(May 1, 2017 – York, Pa.) – It was a seesaw battle all night between the York Revolution and the Long Island Ducks in the opener of a four-game set at PeoplesBank Park, but it was ultimately the Ducks coming out on top, edging the Revs 8-7 as York’s bid for a third separate comeback in Monday’s game ended with the winning runs in scoring position.
The Revs struck first in the bottom of the first inning as Alonzo Harris led off with a double off the wall in left and came around to score on a Joel Guzman double play ball.
The Ducks answered in the third with three runs, two coming courtesy of a Cody Puckett home run to left field, his first of the year.
Isaias Tejeda answered with a two run blast of his own in the bottom half of the inning, plating Jose Constanza who walked to lead off the frame, tying it at 3-3.
The top of the fourth inning saw a 51 minute rain delay, which ended the night for starters Ty’Relle Harris of York and John Brownell of Long Island, and thus began the battle of the bullpens.
The Revs reclaimed the lead at 4-3 in the bottom of the fourth on a Constanza RBI single to bring home Travis Witherspoon who walked and stole second.
Long Island would tie it up at four apiece in the fifth on a Puckett sacrifice fly to bring home Delta Cleary Jr., who singled to begin the frame.
The Ducks then jumped out to a 7-4 lead in the seventh when Nolan Reimold laced an RBI double down the left field line, followed up by a two run blast to left-center by Marc Krauss, his first of the season.
The Revs would battle back in the bottom half of the seventh. Constanza scored the first run on a wild pitch. Bryan Pounds then came through with his fourth RBI hit in as many days, all with two outs, on a single to right. Jared Mitchell followed with a double to deep right center, scoring Pounds to draw the Revs even at 7-7.
However in the eighth, the Ducks would go ahead to stay, as Dan Lyons led off the inning with a double, and the next batter Elmer Reyes continued his hot hitting with an RBI single to left-center which would prove to be the game winner.
