BOX SCORE

The York Revolution trailed early, battled back to cut the deficit to one, but saw their rally fall just short as two runners were thrown out on the bases to end the ninth, as the New Britain Bees escaped with a 4-3 win on Thursday night at PeoplesBank Park.

The Bees took a 1-0 lead in the first as Yusuke Kajimoto and James Skelton led off the game with back-to-back singles. Craig Maddox came through with his tenth RBI against the Revs this season, driving a single the opposite way off of York starter Curtis Partch.

The Revs were quick to respond as Michael Burgess laced a double to the gap in right-center field, scoring Isaias Tejeda all the way from first to tie the score at 1-1, after Tejeda reached on a single one batter prior.

In the second, however, the Bees answered themselves. New Britain tallied four hits in the inning with a sacrifice fly from Michael Baca, a double by Kajimoto, and a wild pitch bringing in three runs.

The Revs did not allow a run from there on out, as the bullpen work of Michael Click, Chase Huchingson, Joe Van Meter, and Luke Westphal combined to allow just two baserunners and struck out six. At one point the Revs staff set down 11 New Britain batters in-a-row.

At the plate the Revs would chip away. York scored a run in the fourth as Carlos Triunfel reached on a single off the Arch Nemesis in left and came around to score on a Travis Witherspoon single to center.

Then in the seventh, Alonzo Harris got the Revs within a run on his first home run of the season, a line drive over the wall in left-center field.

In the eighth, Michael Burgess reached on a leadoff double and Derrick Robinson entered as a pinch runner, but the next three batters were set down to end the frame.

With one final shot in the ninth, Derik Capitillo got aboard with a one out single to right. Witherspoon followed with a single, as did Alonzo Harris. However on the Harris single, Capitillo took a wide turn around third and was given the stop sign, but the Bees cut the ball off at the mound and fired it behind Capitillo before he could get back to the base for the second out.

The next batter was Tejeda who lined a single to left. Witherspoon got the green light around third, but was gunned down at the plate by Connor Bierfeldt to end it.

The Revs travel to Somerset on Friday to face the Patriots with first pitch slated for 7:05 p.m.  Darrell Henry will be on the call beginning at 6:45 p.m. on SportsRadio 1350 WOYK, as well as online at woyk1350.com and on the WOYK App.
